  1. I rang nfu years ago about insurance.... cheeky sods asked if any of my parents had a policy with them or they couldn't cover me lol 😆 😂 I was like wtf does that matter... plebs
  2. I should look into this at some point.... sure mine was 1200 quid ish for a master tipper and an 2010 ford ranger anyone over 25 driver and near enough 10 years on each motor ncb
  3. Where are you based?
  4. That's what I'm thinking.... I've wasted 2-3k on this engine easily wish I'd have thrown it out straight away. I just worried about the output shaft mating with clutchand flywheel bearing and the adaptor plate. I've seen various perkins sold with rads an running etc 800-1k then there's the phaser engines a little more. Seen a mf390t engine for sale but its 2k and probs needs oil cooler etc
  5. My bandit 90 possibly
  6. This has individual injector pumps for each cylinder (4) I only have issues with 2 cylinders. Even after a rebuild, new injectors and swap pumps etc. I'm wondering if those 2 cylinders are glazed but not sure how 2 of 4 would do so..... fed up of the bloody thing tbh. Not many folk about know about these hatz and not many mechanics about good enough to help (more fitters and not diesel mechanics)
  7. I have a smokey hatz engine that smokes on startup. Would love to throw it in the canal and put a perkins in there to be honest. Did consider a deutz air cooled also. Just worried about matching Bell housings up and clutch / out put shaft
  8. Has anyone ever swapped out a shitty engine for a nicer one of a different make? What are the things to consider? I'm thinking modify engine mounts, wiring harness to sort etc and exh, air filter set up. One main concern for me is the bell housing end and the output shaft, getting these to mate up, being same spline as clutch, same dia for bearing in flywheel and long enough also That and it pains me to have to make up and engine and rad cover also... Not 100% about going down this route but it may well be an option. Any one done owt similar? Shoot me now 🤪
  9. I've had one this morning.... esp when they know its a bigger Job and will cost a bit..... "cash pound note this one, no receipt needed" I just thought to myself couldn't care less if I don't get it. Take it or leave it. Its always better when you come away and sent a quote through afterwards via email etc rather than them waste your time and try to blagg you to death to take the cash. Cash is no good to me. If i need to replace equipment. All stuff I look at / need now is easily 15-20k plus.
  10. Finishing off a site today 👍
  11. Been out in mine a few times recently
  12. Clutchy don't forget your free dividend is dwindling.... was 2k.... this year only 1k next year 500 I think
  13. I don't know what it is but my older 201t 2012 and 2011 no issues .... I have a 2016 or 18 201tcm and that sod is always stiff and bunging up on the chain brake internals. Crap saw the newer one.... I went back to the 2012 model couple of years back, newer one is a backup and paperweight
  14. I'm not masses older lol 😆 only In my early thirties 😉
  15. I got to a stage where I looked at everything. I was and am usually always busy. But when you expand you need bigger yard space, more trucks, more guys and most of all more work. Then it's quality control of said work. Then I wondered just how much extra I would be earning for all that stress..... I figured in the end I was happy as I was which is a horrible thing to admit when the sky is the limit. But it's a sensible decision and I'm happy where I am. Chasing figures and having to hit constant targets just shortens your lifespan and induces un necessary stress in my mind.
  16. No not at all... I see where your coming from. I think it will be miles different north south divide.... I do wonder though if your running Costs / outgoings are one of the main issues for you here. I bet your near burnt out and stressed to F. Have you peaked? Grown to an unsustainable level? Or need more admin staff? I'm sure there's something that would ease some burden for you to drum up more business or fine tune other areas.
  17. This is all great but more teams more hassle. Didn't you say recently its touch and go bar one contract Clutchy? Hardly a dead cert that 90k a year then. Smaller companies less staff it's easier to keep hitting constant targets. Work flow is key to all sizes
  18. You can get a diamond disc to do yourself or a setup for the green teeth. Depending where you get your greenteeth from they are cheap as chips so when done I'd throw them away(3-4.00 each) Used yellow jackets I can tickle up and put on a higher hp machine to still make brass . (7.50 each) Being a tight arse myself I've been sharpening my multi tip teeth and got a good while out of them due to 14.00 a tooth plus vat. Good value for money though and done a lot of stumps. Swapped them out today after a job with a lot of stone
  19. One thing I have always wanted is a small samd blast kit but have always had to settle for angle grinder and wire wheel. Still makes a good job. The finish is in the prep and make sure you wipe all surfaces down with panel wipe etc before painting
  20. Bloody hell.... not worth it in my eyes then. No offence and old 2k machine then 1k to paint then > 500 quid for maybe other bits makes an expensive old machine. Doubt you see your money back. Make sure it runs right and use it to earn brass..... if happy you can always paint it yourself. Had plenty of good finishes with a roller and brush over the years 👍
  21. Absolutely spot on there and similar to my own experiences though you did well to keep them for 3 years....
  22. Spoilt a good thread here with this bullshit. Carry on egg's that's what everyone else does. 👍
  23. Does it have hydrostatic drive or you have to push it everywhere?
  24. Spot on. Looks mean nothing really. I ran a vermeer sc252 for 8 years I paid 2800 for and had to do a bit of work. That thing has paid for itself time and time again. It's been retired now as I went for a tracked machine. But when I sell it I hope I can find someone to get as much enjoyment and brass out of it as I did! On another note. There's a lot of firms out there going out with mega fancy kit for buttons and I don't really know how they can make it work.... More bang for your buck with good second hand in my opinion
