  1. i prefer this work out myself... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo2hF5S0a8o&feature=relmfu]YouTube - Hot 40 Min. Workout - Part 2[/ame] enjoy
  2. So then, talked to your man yet? Any come back?
  3. what about when felling a tree over 15" without a medium/large trees ticket?
  4. which route crag?
  5. Please note, I'm not trying in any way to run down this guys awesome climbing. Just a technical issue with the vid. Another tell tale is some of the hand movements. They are to flicky to be paced naturally.
  6. I think it's been speeded up by maybe 110% of normal. Not hugely. I've never said it was dramatic. It might be a result of the video process but the leaf and rope movement isn't natural, nor the rate of pendulum.
  7. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCL0SBCDzOE&feature=channel_video_title]YouTube - Barefoot Tree Climbing[/ame] some interesting movement here
  8. hama, in your twenties, what sort of stuff did you get up to?
  9. If you look at the way the rope swings after use, the rate of pedulum, the rebound of branches and leaves, they're all slightly out of sync with everyday reality. I can't proove it to you. I've posted on the youtube vid to ask the camera man to settle the issue but it's something I've seen done before on you tube. It's easiest to tell on shots of movement in water. Splashed water responds to gravity at set pace. If the vids speeded up the water looks likes it's being ripped out of the air artificially quickly. (which it is)
  10. Shame about the distance. Keen to get out on the rock a bit more. Hope you find someone.
  11. obviously with a chainsaw in your hands free climbing isn't so hot. but what about when not working. any of you have a prodigous nerve and take it to an extreme?
  12. ... haven't read the whole thread so if this has been stated already i apologize, and by saying this I'm not wanting to take anything away from this guys climbing becasue he is obviously very slick, but this video is speeded up. If you look at the leaves, the rate of pendulum and the speed the branches rebound, they aren't. He's obvious quick but just not quite as quick as you think.
  13. You might want ot check Ebays rules on VAT.
  14. i've always thought a hinge should be straight with parallel edges. if it's leaning have it thicker. Otherwize it won't work as a cleanly. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
  15. if you don't have the metal work you could just tie a italian / munters hitch and descend on that. It should be backed up with a prussic or some such hitch to prevent free fall though. ( it does twist the rope more then a stitch plate or figure of eight)
  16. what termination knot are you using? chunky ones such as the figure of eight do get in the way. maybe try something like the fishermans (from the doublefishermans that is used to make the prussic loop). there's a host of other one though.
  17. at the apf there was a guy selling a new hand saw with little rollers on the side that click the blade in to the sheath. Anyone remember what the name of teh product/company was?
  18. lovely
  19. so what would heating oil do to your engine?
  20. looks alright. HOW MUCH?
  21. Oak leaves? Lake District National Park - Tree and hedgerow preservation
  22. depends on the wage though really. if they offer accomodation it could be a pleasant quiet life, so long as you don't mind playing serf.

    prices.

but if you put into your calculations of the efficiency of peoples stoves (or worse, their open fire) then you get a worse figure considering the best stoves usually come in at around 65% whilst modern gas boilers are 95-98% effiecent. (rocket stoves get higher to around 80-90% but they are still a home made niche speciality) Then consider the time of stacking, filling baskets and moving it around you home. I love a wood stove. Nothing like it. But with two stoves and two open fires at home and four stoves and four fires at work, boy am i ****** off with splitting and shifting fire wood.
  24. i bought a 353 on the back of a college order a 6 years ago for £290+vat. I run it with a 13" blade. It's out lasted every saw I've had and not cost very much to service along way compared to other saws. It was used intensively in forestry for a while and then got used as my back up saw and the saw i'd lend to folk when they first start working for me. It also sits by the chipper most of the time for cleaning up brash. If you're only buying one saw and aren't going to be a professional cutter then i'd rate it.
  25. you could try andrew levy... he's done some good work for me. his number is 07886938631
