  1. I would like a proper explanation why this is, I can understand that super is no advantage but not why it should burn hotter if nothing else changes. i have no idea- just thought i would take his advice as he is a qualified small engine mechanic. He might be wrong so open to any other ideas. I know petrol 'cools' an engine- as in a lean running one with not enough fuel compared with air will knack it up...but with regards to the Super running too hot- yes explanation needed.👍
  2. Yes, it looks like we will just have to see what happens in a year or two. I've just bought some fuel mix from Toolstation to 'protect' from the ethanol, etc. I will trial it with the e10- simply cos it's cheaper..
  3. Local mechanic told me to stick with the new e10 and not use super as it will run too hot. Also says use a fuel stabiliser if keeping longer than a month.
  4. Bridlington has quite a few large street Elms. Saw a dead one standing recently. Surprised it had not been removed.
  5. The tree should what is known as 'compartmentalise' and seal off the wounded area. Many old trees have hollow bits and are fine. Possibly it may have been cut back slightly too far- bit difficult to tell. See how the overall tree is next year..👍
  6. In my experience an extra wrap gives alot more grip.
  7. They stopped selling Shindaiwa in UK other year and now just sell Echo i think- sister company. They reckon 'same' machines but in my experience the Shindaiwa last much longer- unless just had a duff Echo- great strimmer but did not last that long. BACK ON SALE IN UK!!👍
  8. Unfortunately the battery run time on strimmers is not great..
  9. Undercut carefully - not too far as will trap easily. Then cut in line with the undercut at both sides from above- meeting at a point in centre. So as to leave a triangle hinge with apex/point at top of branch. Then final top cut is made into the hinge through the top of the triangle. Not sure if this is v cut. Prob same idea as box cut. Works for felling leaning willows where a boring cut would trap the saw. Try on small stuff first in case get it wrong.
  10. Highways used to be very particular in North Yorks. Recently i think some of their decisions are outright irresponsible regards road safety.
  11. In villages the Parish Council rep. can speak- not sure proceedure in towns..whether that's role of town councillor?
  12. I think hopefully it could go your way... I think it's only one objector allowed to speak. Also i think the councillor can voice his concerns. Keep us posted and fingers crossed🌲
  13. At committee get your best spokesperson to talk for the allocated 5minute(?) with sound objections of why it contravenes NPPF - google nppf. What is the point in a group TPO if some a hole can apply to clear it and build on it...Phrase it slightly more politely...
  14. It will prob be decided at planning committee by sounds of it. If you can get a councillor to speak against at the meeting should help alot. The council 'experts' such as highways officers, i have found in my area are as thick as pig shit when it comes to basic observations. Hopefully commonsense of planning committee, etc. will go in your favour. and ignore the tree officer's opinion.Throw as much info, support, etc at the committee. When the final planning report is released in the days prior to committee then lobby the committee members. 👍✌
  15. Have you contacted your elected district councillors- they are voted in democratically and it's their civil duty to get involved when asked. The tree officer sounds like he prefers development to trees...
  16. Maybe the tree officer is mates with the applicant? If the area is TPO'd then i agree with what you say. Obviously i'm not the expert here which is why i suggested contacting district councillors to ask for assistance. Planning officers can just manipulate policies to suit their agenda. However maybe they will put it down for refusal before planning committee.
  17. Contact the head planning officers, district councillors. Ask for clarification. Threaten use of ombudsman if they ignore you and your comments. Get 10 letters of objection and committee will decide the application.
  18. Yes prob Grey Willow/Sallow. Salix cinerea. There are 2 subspecies - cinerea/oleifolia . Also hybrids may look same as the species. Too much info prob👀
  19. Any of it in leaf? Bit difficult to tell without.

    Chain oil

Much better smelling- like chips frying🍟
  21. Ok, cheers fellas, i will go for the pro one👍
  22. Does anyone have experience of doing the one day Lantra tree inspection course? I am thinking it might be a bit too basic and might not learn much new, having done tree work on and off for 25+ years. The professional 3 day course states it is for experienced tree inspectors- so why would you do this course if you are an experienced surveyor/inspector..?
