  1. It's funny how a lot of the 'no jobs available' brigade seem to only consider applying for jobs working for other people. There a loads of jobs out there that nobody has yet created - so go create one! I've seen loads of Eastern europeans round our way opening road-side car washes. There must be a demand, so why shouldn't these other lard arses save up for a bucket and a sponge then they can go earn something for themselves AND probably make more dosh than the MacDonald slaves. Maybe DFS needs couch testers for those who are really unfit. Or become a bouncer at mothercare for the less brave the list is endless - unlike the Government coffers.
  2. Isn't the word 'diet' just die - with a t on the end?
  3. Theres good and bad everywhere - get over it!
  4. How about one of these for starters 20 Ton Hydraulic Bottle Jack | eBay
  5. Nice piece of kit for when you need it. That bottle jack looks like it must be 10-20 tons rating. You can pick them up for well under £100. I'm sure you could fix it just fine.
  6. What's the pulling power on that? I guess it would out-do my 2 ton engine hoist.
  7. Today I had the day off and visited the Goodwood Open air sculptures in Sussex. I saw something there which really got me thinking (amazing I know) - which I believe is one of the purposes of art. It was a huge blank book about 10 ft tall, open with nothing in it. From a distance it looked like a memorial. That's when the profound-thought faries scattered their dust in my direction. Imagine if every town had a large memorial inscribed only at the top with- 'To those who must fall in future conflicts' (Think about it for a minute). War can only be declared once a few hundred names have been filled in - but by whom? Politicians, nationalistic parents, whoever. After the names are added, and only then, should they be allowed to declare war on some tinpot oil-producing state to keep the wheels of their industries turning. No names - NO WAR. I don't mind if those of you who have lost friends or loved ones in conflicts disagree and think I'm a lefty coward - if you would be willing to put your children's names on the list, fair enough. The politicians have always found rousing words to encourage support for wars, but let them be the first to add to the list. maybe they could even add their own names.
  8. Can't believe some of the comments here. To suggest that those from foreign parts flout the rules, don't care etc. is pretty extreme. I know a few knuckle draggers in my area who are as 'British' as anyone but I recon their buttocks must be worn out by the time they are 21 - cos they spend all their time on their arsenals! Some of them who do 'work' produce work of such low standard it's unbelievable. No doubt there are some dodgy Frenchmen, Germans, Poles etc. but the ratio of Anglo-Saxon richard-craniums is probably just as high. Theres good and bad everywhere - get over it!
  9. I know, Pat - pots talking to black kettles. Hypocricy is a wonderful thing - but I had to confess my sins. Now I have repented and nay (or neigh) never again shall I let the cheapo stuff darken my life etc..... PS anyone want a very cheap, slightly used recoil unit - ideal for the DIY enthusiast?
  10. I'll own up! I usually rant on here about avoiding the cheapo stuff, then when the recoil unit on mt Rayco grinder finally broke I decided to save a few quid and get a 'patter' part for much less than the Honda bit. The original unit had lasted 9 years. But the replacement was only a quarter of the price! Only problem was it lasted 4 trips (two months). When you work that out it makes the cheapo copies about 13 or 14 times more expensive. I shoul;d have listened to myself! - now bought Honda one.
  11. Fair do's - the sad thing is it will probably cope with more than that but the vosa guys might not agree. Good luck
  12. Regardless of power, what will 5 cu mtrs of chips to to the GVW? That could be a 1.7 ton payload - what is the net weight (with kit, driver etc) of a 130?
  13. If someone is willing to offer sound advice, or give interesting opinions then as long as I can make sense of it then what's the problem? Damn it.. that means, by definition, people are welcome to express views on bad spelling and grammar. I therefore think I disagree with you but you could be right (and me wrong!) as w're talking opinions and not facts. Hmmmmmm - whats it all about anyway? Confused of Worthing.
  14. I haversham myopic key-boardroom settle on predictive text so no problems heresay!
  15. I agree some of the spelling and grammar on forums (not just here) can be poor, but some things, like the Somerset beverage have been this way for ages - its a bit of fun. I suspect you may get some rather more negative reponses than this to your comments.
  16. Don't waste brain power on things you can't influence. There will always be the undercutters, they will come and go. AND there will always be the professionals (YOU). On a day to day basis the undercutters will take customers, but the crap job they will do means they can't keep customers so you will get the work next time. How many times have you been contacted by customers who say 'Oh blimey, last year we got someone cheap and they made a right hash of it - so we said NEVER AGAIN, thats why we called you' Concentrate on being professional - let the scum bags work for the Lidl brigade. He who insists on the cheapest usually gets the shoddiest.
  17. I love landies but when I saw that on ebay I laughed out loud. I recon the payload on that would be virtually nothing, and I wonder how long before the bulk-head on a B reg would need replacing. To use the Liddle customer phrase - 'ow much? - yerrr avin a larf mate' Probably only of interest to Chris Ewbank to keep the ego inflated.
  18. Is that a decomposing corpse in front of it?
  19. You will enjoy yourself! The extra power is a great bonus and as long as you don't mind a bit of graft the manual slewing seems quicker than some of the hydraulic sweeps on other machines. All you need now is a peugeot van to transport it!
  20. I used to have a van like that:lol::lol:
  21. Anywhere East of Newhaven you should be OK. A dealer in that town tried to charge me £660.00 for what Greenmech specify as 4 hours max work (because they didn't have then right tools!). They ended up halving the fee in the end - and still losing my custom for ever.
  22. What can I say, Pat? Those 110cc chainsaws they were selling for £87.00 were pick up only - no posting. How many did you buy in the end?
  23. I like the fact that it's an investment property - you must feel so sorry for the hard up guy. Loads of us have 'friends' or friends of friends etc. It's funny how they think because they know you you'll be happy to be a slave! I know someone at the Inland Revenue - maybe He will let me off paying tax, and my friend who works at Tesco... etc you get the idea. I might do work for friends on a no contingency basis, but why should I do any more? They will not be able to get it done any cheaper. All cheapo 'owww much' Lidl merchants should get @@@@ed I'll concentrate on what I consider to be my 'professional' customers. Professional rate for a professional job. End of.
  24. The top cover is the wrong shape for a 395. When something seems too good.....
  25. Just be aware that because a truck can physically hold a huge volume of waste i there is a legal limit which is very expensive and inconvenient if you exceed it. It can be quite a small payload on a 3.5 tonner. As a guide I recon the 'average' chippings are about 3 cu mtrs per ton so, depending on vehicle weight, tools you carry, people on board etc. 3 mtrs might be the legal max.
