  1. Looks like leaf galls (eriophyes erineus) maybe? Diagnosis of ill health in trees pg 133.
  2. Reminds me of the old Dave Allen joke. Two old boys talking about definitions of sophistication, First one says 'When you get home and find your wife in bed with another man, and instead of going nuts you ask him to carry on and kindly leave and never come back' The other one replies 'No no no, sophistication is when you tell him to carry on, and he does.. THAT is sophistication'
  3. I find it a bit quicker to just swap chains over during the day then sharpen any spares on the bench. Reduced down time at work and slightly more accurate sharpening - but that's just me.
  4. Can you give me a price for grinding some stumps please, There are a lot of them but they are small. Don't bother coming round just a rough price will do - I'm just phoning round to see who can do it the soonest. Oh - yes it's quite urgent - the fencing guys are coming round tomorrow so it needs to be done before they can start.
  5. I think Husky have missed a trick - I am wondering why they didn't make their bars of a length to be compatible with the MS200 chains. It would mean we could have a mix of saws without having to have.... you can work out the rest.
  6. Should we all PM you first to make sure you are happy with the thread going up?
  7. The treebusta uses a 13hp unit, mine was a honda
  8. IIRC the treebusta used one 7 inch blade, not sure if the truckloader uses that or the 4 inch ones as per the 150 etc. Varty... you'll know.
  9. Never use your buttocks to instal fence posts.
  10. Thats not a treebusta - and it wouldn't go through most doorways. I'd like to see one bloke pust that up a ramp
  11. Narrrr you just mix in a bit of used engine oil with every tank full - as recommended by lay-by inhabitants (allegedly).
  12. I can't see that they would deliberately keep the sizes different - given that they have a small share of the market. if they were market leaders trying to kill off the opposition (like Microsoft often did) then yes - I can see it. Over to you, Oregon etc... American and Japanes/Chinese aftermarket stuff to the rescue (and a load of crap on ebay no doubt).
  13. This message is assuming that my local Stihl/Husky dealer was telling the truth - he usually does and he will NOT post parts, so he's for real. I would like to extend my thanks to Husqvarna for a very good piece of design. You have finally managed to produce what looks like a good top-handled saw. BUT - as seems to be the way these days you've managed to make it a bit more difficult for MS200 users to convert. You cleverly use the same chain as Stihl (fank god 'Arry) but just so the 10 or so chains I have cycling around for my MS200s cannot be used on your saw you have developed bar lengths which require a different number of drive links! Thanks - I can honestly say that I considered buying one of your saws this week (I've heard decent reviews) but I'll wait a year or so till my MS200s have used up all those chains and gradually died. If you want to fight in the market - think about who you are competing with and maybe find ways to entice customers over.
  14. The area code on the crane is for an area near Preston - as said earlier... why move it to haggis-land to sell it ???? He's quite possibly a person with dubious intent. Ne toucher pas avec le pole de bateau, je pense!
  15. Today - I have the mudguard and infeed chute from my chipper on my bench. It's starting to look lovely again! Just waiting for a new mudguard to arrive. For the record, Ford Signal Green is a good match to GM green.
  16. If a tree surgeon falls over in the forest and nobody is there to hear it - is it because he had too much cizzer at lunch time?
  17. I tried this on my treebusta - used old drainage pipes BUT not enough power to blow the chips up higher and round any more bends. Greenmech an JoBeau both make push along chippers with higher output chutes All worth considering.
  18. What he said, It's the way we do it in sussex. Or get one of these...
  19. Depending on how much grip you want - Some of these? You can use them on new boots when you replace the old ones HILLSOUND Trail Crampon - Ice & Snow Over Shoe - All Sizes | eBay
  20. As of yesterday... I'm not the boss, I'm a very naughty boy.
  21. It looks like they are explaining clearly that they are protecting trees which need it. There are too many people out there who think they can do what they like to trees. I'm sure we have all met the chav brigade who dont like clearing up leaves and want all the trees removed. I, for one, support LAs who adopt a tougher stance. As for the newly promoted hippy.. well good luck to him. Our job,as professionals, is to do what is best for the trees - let's support a LA that seems to share this view. Too many dick-head Audi driver types who love concrete!
  22. Only in Essex, matey boy:lol:
  23. I was going to post this but got distracted by my stock-car antics today. Now that's all sorted.... Am I getting paranoid or are loads of different species of tree starting to suffer lately? I've had calls about sycamores, beeches, cherries and even hazels seeming to be suffering in a variety of ways. Theres been all the usual stuff with robinia, oaks, ash and so on but it seems like everything is getting distressed. What's going on - it can't all be this recent hot spell - trees have been surviving through all sorts of extremes. Any theories???????:confused1:
