  1. IIRC if its a 3.5 Ton GVW you can tow 3.5T behind it. I would assume (I don't know) that a 3.05 Ton GVW could tow 3.05 T. No doubt others will know the real facts for sure. I'll have a look at my plate tomorrow
  2. Of course we are not manly, all we do is go on trainig courses, fill out risk assessments and work from MEWPS while wearing armoured suits. Ten years time we will all be flight attendants or garden centre assistants.
  3. Done - agree this is a sensible starting place. All good stuff.
  4. I have no certificate to show that i have been trained in the art of reproduction. I guess I'd better hand my children back and return to celibacy.
  5. That's horrific. I guess us townies dont know diddly squit about life in the wilderness. Well done that man.
  6. Mr Git, your scientific approach is to be admired, and would appear to show that there is a difference. The problem will always be that manufacturers of pattern parts will claim that theirs are made exactly the same. The only time we ever find out, alas, is when its too late. No doubt there's a bloke down the pub who found a 'proper' manufacturers blade that was made of cheese while the Lidl pattern part was perfect.
  7. There is over 40mm of thick steel between the bolt hole and the cutting edge on the greenmech discs - I doubt you could crack one of them without nuking the machine.

    Treating Ivy

A customer of mine put one of the spray-on liquids in little plastic bags and the clipped the bags around attached leaves. He claimed it worked just fine. There must have been a hundred little bags. Two problems were, you need the patience of a saint and the garden looks like a dog walkers route by a footpath where nobody uses the shite-bins.
  9. He says it doesn't bother him but I think deep down he wonders what life could have been like... he still lives in a rented place. Mind you he's always been a great dad and he's always been around - who knows what the alternative lifestyle may have led to? Just gotta roll with it.
  10. It seems like a good idea, the only problem I could see is the turning force on the gun might muller your wrists if youre not ready for it (IIRC its the opposite and equal forces principle) - but still worth a try.
  11. I'd go back to the early sixties and stop my dad from declining Ray Davis' offer to become the drummer for the Kinks. He recommended Mick Avery instead (who my dad had recently taught) - and carried on his job as a glazier. Oh well.....
  12. Ask the relatives of all those killed in Brecon and Leeds over the weekend if they think someone who advocates speed and excitement on the roads (and usually smokes the tyres on every car test) is such a 'kin hero. He comes out with all this crap just for effect. A very good self-publicising dick. Almost a shame he wasn't on a certain piece of air transport in South America this week.
  13. Or maybe go back and meet Jesus and Mohamed and record how they REALLY wanted us to behave.
  14. I would have loved to meet Ghengis Khan - a true genius.
  15. I've got a reasonable memory for sports results so I'd probably take up gambling. Even just going back to the Germany/Brazil world cup semi final would be OK for me. Maybe for another thread - what would you do in the days leading up to 9/11?
  16. I was told today that echo spares are a lot more expensive (though hopefully not required so often) - an example was a clutch drum costing nearly £40 while the Stihl ones are around £11-15. My dealer sells mostly Stihl and Husky but he can get hold of Echo if needed so he's not entirely biased. Just another consideration. C'mon Echo, good product - seize the moment and get spares (supply and price) sorted. I'm still undecided.
  17. They are free to try for whatever they can get. Only if they succeed should we start to worry. How much timber can you log guys buy in for £800? Without needing to collect and then rake/blow/brush someone's garden. I cant help thinking the natural forces of economics will solve this one.
  18. The bigger machines are heavier and not towable (without extra tests) by recently qualified drivers. If you are really into appeasing VOSA they also have more noseweight on the towbar so reduce the effective legal payload. In terms of processing, the bigger ones are better value for money.
  19. Spare drive belts for flywheel and for hydraulic pump (inexpensive but priceless in the middle of nowhere). Jump leads - unless you have chipper which can be bump started. Wire (as suggested above) Logs to hold up the infeed rollers if you need to de-clog. Logs for wheel chocks if the handbrake will not hold in reverse on hill.
  20. As above, poor support. I bought some mud-flap rubber which I used to wedge the tank in my old TW. You can see where the expert dealers are coming from though, it'll be a few weeks before the vibration wears through the tank. It will outlast the ........ anyway. Fill in gap with your own facetious comments. Good luck with TW HQ I always found them v helpful.

The word 'but' is usually preceded by a lie (intended to soften the blow) and followed by the blow itself (often based on opinion).
