  1. I like that mate that'l wind the kids up when they are older haha
  2. Don't hold the saw in a position/angle so when it kicks back it will hit you it's the same wether using one or two hands mate. I see work poitioning not just where you are in relation to the tree but where the saw is in relation to you too. It's common sense you can't teach common sense though.
  3. We had a chap walk up to us today when we were in the lock up asking if we had any spare car batteries, while his eyes were all over the place looking at the quad chipper etc. And he had that traveller accent it's boiling my blood already hope I'm wrong but expect me to put one of these threads up:sneaky2:
  4. All I can see is a nice calendar:confused1:
  5. Too true mate the sort of blokes if you told them they were lazy for using a saw one handed would probably smack you in the mouth:lol:
  6. There's loads of ways of using trees to trees to there own advantage isn't there without all the shiny bits of stuff:001_smile:
  7. Aye that's the one mate:thumbup:
  8. Saves getting straps out
  9. When in the mewp cutting a heavyish limb off I'll cut one of the side branches off the limb but leaving a 6 inch stub to hold with one hand and il cut with the other hand works a treat
  10. My protein do 5kg whey protein pouch for 35.99:thumbup:
  11. I lose weight over Xmas I'm strange but I don't have a good appetite when I'm not working.
  12. Well I can't drop you logs off mate but I can add that the saying is "as flat as a witches tit" round my area haha
  13. Just read your post properly mate:blushing: you said no chance of lowering
  14. Get some pictures up mate someone might climb it for you:001_smile: only lads I know with big platforms are in stafford so no help there sorry they would travel but would be costly
  15. I remember when I was using cyclone you could guarantee the farts would start as soon as I walked in the pub:lol:
  16. Hopefuly re written by someone who has done the job Dean.
  17. I tried to go two handed all the time and started using a back handled 020 and it wasn't long until I was holding the back handle one handed at times and was enjoying the extra reach:blushing: and I felt uncomfortable so I scrapped the saw and stuck to what I knew
  18. You got it mate! Aye he's back and wouldn't know anything was ever wrong with him cheers
  19. Once or twice:001_smile:
  20. I would certainly warn them and ask them not to use this practice as I can't determine if someone would be competent with it but I'll do it myself
  21. Accident statistics a lot of the time (not always) will be people making stupid mistakes and not being competent in what they are doing. Just because people say something is dangerous doesn't mean it is my experiences with tutors etc is they had never done the job. It all comes with experience you feel what the saw is doing and trees for that matter and make your own mind up how you do things and feel comfortable doing. I would never criticize anyone who won't use a saw one handed but it doesn't make me lazy if I do
  22. I've worked with people who have cut themselves using a saw one handed and they were using it in a rediculous way there is ways of doing it safely and the same when using a saw with two hands you hold the saw in a way so if it kicks back it will kick back away from you. I didn't want to add to this thread but to say someone is lazy because of this reason is ridiculous I take pride in working hard always have. Some people are very capable of using a saw one handed safely and others just shouldn't even attempt it. I see your point on newbies thinking it's ok that's I didn't want to add as I would never encourage anyone to do it as they might not be able to handle a saw in this way.
  23. Haha lazy:confused1: what laugh the rough old lads who trained me all used saws one handed and worked like mad and reckon if someone walked up to them and called them lazy you would walk away looking like a panda:lol:
  24. I think the problem is saying "bottled it" if you are good at your job know what you are talking about then you will know it's not safe to do it then you will find a safe way to finish the job. Over the years there has been jobs where the other climbers have said I should do certain dodgy looking trees as I'm the lightest being 12 st and them being about 12 and half stone or something they are the ones who have "bottled it" I think gibbon is being hard on himself saying he bottled it
