  1. But also everybody can pre warn you about stuff but the main thing is enjoy your work you will also learn to enjoy working hard, the best feeling for me is when you are in a team of good lads who all excel in their place and you all know what the other is doing. When you all have a huge tree to do and you do it well the feeling is awesome it makes up for the crap days:thumbup:
  2. Great saw mate much better than the newer 441 18/20 inch bar is spot on.
  3. The majority of them live in houses now mate they get out in the caravans in the summer to try and keep up with tradition, Ive found that a lot of the trouble makers and arrogant of them are the long distant descendants or wannabe travelers, The older romany families used to get on with a lot of the people whos towns they stopped in up here and a lot of people looked forward to them coming. I was with one and she turned out to be a phsyco but to be fair her family are spot on and I still see her brother a lot.
  4. must be mate Ive never been up there, I thought it was bad enough here we still get called cavemen:lol:

  7. It is very different in some ways but don't be worried choose carefully who you work for and you will be fine:001_smile: you won't be seeing loads of stupidly dangerous things going on I hope but there are some idiots about. Although you might expect things to be different odd bird never be pushed into anything you feel is dangerous just take it easy and with experience you will work out for yourself what you feel comfortable doing and what you don't I think the main thing what is different is people have a shock at the pace of the work at some places.
  8. I've never seen one decent climber which strictly uses two hands on a saw, seen a few who think they are though!
  9. Hi Mick, Have you thought of maybe going self employed? as that way people may give you days here and there. With work being tight at the moment people are more reluctant to employ more people. I hope you get some work mate I'm sure you will be a good grafter and just get on with things, I've had the pleasure of working with an ex forces bloke and he was always happy and I felt very comfortable knowing how well he knew first aid. Plus he had some great stories to share at bate time. Good luck Lawrence
  10. Don't panic mate even my wife made a comment haha
  11. Na they expect you to live in their tradition mate I know another lad up here (none traveling) who marrying a traveller. They rarely live in caravans now either mate they have houses but when it's warm pop a few huddled yards down the road in the caravan haha

  20. Could see how you could get yourself in trouble:sneaky2: what about three then one commercial, one private and one machinery hire business
  21. Could you set up another company one for private clients and one for commercial? Having one vat registered and the other not?
