  1. I'll be taking the misses for a day out and try and convince her she needs some new toys!
  2. Here's my three!
  3. Just taken mine out and given it a good sniff! Yes it stinks, wonder if it's made from recycled bog paper! Errr off to wash my hands
  4. I see an add in this months Forestry Journal about buying and planting eucalyptus for firewood which could be harvested in about eight to ten years. Not had much experience with burning it but I knows it's heavy. If I had twenty acres planted up do you think I could sustainably harvest it? Has anyone grown euc on a large scale?
  5. Just the bar Jon, but it also took the combi can out and poor guys lunch and flask out! What's more he'd put a new chain on the saw before leaving the yard!!!
  6. Jon, it certainly was! Matt, it was my colleague, got the saw stuck when the tree went backwards, you'd think after 30yrs on the saw he'd know when the wind blows there's going be trouble, got the saw stuck, used another saw, tree went sideways and took his saw!
  7. A spot of bar straightening!
  8. Just thought I'd share these pictures with you. After crown lifting an oak today I was asked to clean up the trunk. A quick check amongst the branches about 8ft up I found this spike. Imagine swinging into this!
  9. I've been using one for three months now and can't fault it, it does slip sometimes but a quick jerk makes it bite. It's quick and easy to use and the thimble attachment allows greater anchorage and freedom. Hoping they bring out a longer version.
  10. I use type A in the woodlands, in green, nice and light look smart and wash well. Just bought a second pair.
  11. I bought a brian James tipper complete with ramps and mesh sides. It holds 4m3 of wood and even takes the tractor. The only problem is it's a bit weighty to move around by hand! Oh and they ain't cheap at 5k!
  12. I managed to get hold of these plastic pallets from a wholesaler who sells plumbing stuff. No holes for ankles to fall into and they don't rot. I no longer store bags in there I just fill with logs. Notice the herras fencing to keep the logs off the timber sides. Helps with drying.
  13. Nice machines! Are they the machines that harvested that top quality timber I had from you last week? My processor loved it.
  14. Sackmaker.co.uk
  15. £5 or £6 a bag, prob £5 as I can't be dealing with all the small change! I'd rather bank just fivers than all those pesky pound coins!
  16. 40p a bag, they are mis-prints, the other side says city of York! Ordered 100 but just about to order another 500 if they have any left! Even if my punters return them only three times then I've saved 20p and the time it takes to fill them.
  17. I'm trying new firewood bags this year. Lots of my customers prefer to pick up bags as they have no storage for a load. Many of my more elderly customers find the mesh bags a pain to load and unload from the car. These green bags are 30cmx30cmx45cm and hold the same amount as the mesh bags. Quicker to fill and easier to store.
  18. Cheers Jim. Welcome back. I've been asked to procure locally if possible but still need two quotes! We have the money so can purchase or get the ball rolling as soon as the quote arrives!
  19. Rhodespackaging.co.uk Best quality I have found.
  20. The haulier is from your neck of the woods. He did mine on back load. I'll send his number.
  21. 11k was for road tow version with log lift, petrol engine with PTO. Price was great until the 20% vat was added! But it worth it wright in gold. Just done a demo for Cardiff Council, hopefully Jim will remember this if they but one!!!!
  22. There's a previous thread from last week, there's a contact on there. Ring Vikki or Geoff, great people and lovely timber. Hope to get more when I can sort storage out!
  23. The futures bright!
  24. I've been wearing SIP progress for the last year when doing woodland work, find them nice and light. I use stretch air type c for climbing harder wearing than my hi-flex. Picked up a pair or Husky technical today. Nice and bright and only for using when road side or stormy days!
  25. I know you shouldn't reply,but do you?How do you stop them?
