  1. At the tender age of 40 I think I'm finally reaching it!
  2. Every time my misses picks the book up I just grin and head of to the other other room to watch a film of my choice! She likes to read I like to watch!
  3. Well said Hodge. The lads in work constantly moan despite having top quality gear, it's only your cloths that get wet, my skins waterproof.
  4. Just come in after dumping over 5000lts of water from our rainwater harvesting tanks! Pumped the water into the pond and it took three hours to empty the tanks! Hopefully by emptying the tanks the sun will come and we will have a drought!
  5. Just thinking of this winters work wear! Thinking of going bright this year! Feels nice against the skin but is it up to the job in the wild wet woodlands of Wales. Any feed back welcome.
  6. I'd wear this zombi killing suit! It's so bright they'd be blinded!
  7. Try Ian Symonds at Chantler timber. He has a contract with nearly 1000t of harvester felled ash all six to fourteen inch. It's not cheap but good clean timber. I've been quoted £55 delivered in plus VAT. I think the distance you are from the timber might make it a bit more expensive.
  8. I think your less likely to get pulled if you use a transit which is full of scrap on the back!
  9. This static caravan would make a great site office, gym, workshop or even brothel! Need to get shot of it. It was used whilst the house was being renovated. All electrics work and boiler works and has been tested. You will need to arrange haulage yourselves. They usually cost about £400 to shift. Its about five miles from Chepstow. It will be a shame to scrape it!
  10. Didn't think there was an age limit on becoming an apprentice! I knew one who was 45 and took on an apprenticeship as a gardener simply because he wanted a career change!
  11. Twelve axes, sixteen knives, five chainsaws, a nail gun, two big dogs, one FX 2000 mutishot, one Franchini over under and a semi automatic complete with 200 Alfa max cartridges, I'm ready bring them on!
  12. Nice set up, how many KW is the system. Wanted a similar set up ourselves but it meant putting it in the meadow, the wildflowers won!
  13. 17kw today, and free leccy all day to run my log splitter!
  14. Can't fault mine. If you want to try before you buy give me a shout.
  15. Surely you should commend those who are trying to cut down on their consumption and reduce their carbon footprint! It might be inefficient, but it producing energy for free.
  16. With the lack of sunshine around I just wondered what other peoples solar panels were producing. 3.2 kw system, south west facing. Today we produced 9.9kwh making a staggering £4.31. Made £32.97 for the last seven days.
  17. Still clearing up after the recent strong winds in Cardiff.
  18. I like mine covered in snow! Otherwise it's red and black chequer plate.
  19. If it is safe to do so, why not use a winch and pull it over, the root plate will become a great wildlife refuge. The other option is to do a "Fred Dibbler" on it.
  20. Cheers Slack, can't make the Arb show this year too much on! Usually folk have a lot to say on here but obviously harnesses arnt a good talking subject. I might just get all three!
  21. I'm about to replace my Treeflex harness with a harness that gives a bit more support to my back. I'm not to concerned about how flexible the harness makes me, I'm changing because I'm not flexible anymore. Just need a harness that supports the back, my arms will do the rest. So I've tried the Treemotion and the Skylotec. The tree motion looked good but certainly not as supportive as the Skylotec. In fairness I've only used both for a morning each. Today I was given the Harkie to try out, good leg supports and back support, it's been lent to me by a local supplier so can't go and get it dirty but it certainly felt comfortable. Does anyone have any views or experience of the above. Although I've been climbing for over twenty years I now only climb when I really have too!
  22. Fair enough then, it's just recently I had a delivery from 110miles away for the same price. When you work out the cost of fuel etc and the drivers wages it seems fair to me.
  23. Max gust so far is only 38mph with a constant 25mph, wind chill is 5c! It's my day off but given the fact last months wind was 42mph and toppled over 140 trees in Cardiff I think I'm about to get a phone call. ( phone now going to be turned off!).
  24. Thanks for all the interest, it's all sold. I'm afraid for a few of you the haulage would have killed it. Do you think £300 to move 25t approx 30 miles is reasonable?
