  1. There are things to do with "copying" someone else I believe... See if you can speak to a solicitor briefly to find out the legalities... Then when you know, tell him you've consulted a solicitor and point out what he has to do to comply if he starts being "funny"...
  2. That's akin to Occam's razor too: Or in simpler terms: BTW, no offence intended or implied... Personally I'm all for/a fan of new technology, but in it's own time when it's properly understood and accepted...
  3. Rains washed it all away now though
  4. Davetaz: Re: PM; I'm doing my CS30/31 from the 15th to the 19th... Once they're done I don't mind lending a hand if it helps
  5. Happy Birthday, how many miles on the clock matey???
  6. I'm after some hardwood, preferably beech, freshly felled in the Poynton/Cheshire area if anybody has any... Needed in 3' lengths x ~12" diameter... It's for growing mushrooms on, non of the loacal tree surgeons have any, which I was surprised at, everythings been split
  7. Ustulina is a nasty little fungus, once well established it's almost certainly a losing battle for the affected tree
  8. On another note I'm planning to fit a multifuel stove/boiler into my terraced house with loads of room at the back to store wood... I'm talking with a few systems manufacturers about linking it in with the combi boiler I have so I can still use gas for heating when I'm not there or don't need to fire the stove up. But come winter when it's colder I can get the stove going and it'll heat my whole house too I have a plot approximately 10m x 6m behind the house over a "shared driveway" that's pretty secure with limited access... The plan was to get a workshop built this year with storage space to the rear for firewood in a covered bay... I can get propane pretty cheap too, so an additional idea was to put a high pressure system in to the house so I can resort to it if I didn't want to pay the extortionate bills to the gas company...
  9. Now this is something I want to see!!!
  10. No ideas on method, yet... Will have a good read of whats sent, I plan to partially bury the logs around the edge of the garden, in clusters to give the little fungi plenty to go at I love to see things like this My little boys nearly two, so by the time it's fruiting properly he'll be able to start understanding it, and tasting hopefully
  11. The tree was only cut down in the last couple of days or so... This was the kit: DIY Kit Says it will work on conifers
  12. Just ordered their "DIY kit"... I've a load of conny in the garden that I can try it out on "as they say"... I cut grooves in the stump to help it rot so will make some wedges to fill them and bung some plugs in the gaps... Will get rid of the mess the roots have made to
  13. Sorry to go off topic for the moment but your inbox is full "Hamadryad"... I'd like to send a message but can't
  14. Fair enough, perhaps just the "safe / poisonous / toxic" catagories then... Or "edible" / "poisonous/toxic" / "deadly"??? You've got me quite intrigued now as this is a subject I'm quite fond of too Count me in as one of your many customers
  15. Being found in situ would it be easy to perhaps collect spores and go down the route of "home cultivation" if one were so inclined??? I'm of the same thought that it's nice to try something if it warrants it, but not to completely remove it from it's natural habitat in doing so...
  16. Like these?: You can buy these from my local chinese cash and carry
  17. Will sound like a daft question but if laying "bit's of tree", etc, around the garden partially buried, will it encourage fungi??? Just wondering if there's anyway to bring them in to the "home environment"??? Jim.
  18. Just a quick thankyou to ISC, all bits arrived today... Again, many thanks, Jim.
  19. If it's an 066 you may be able to use one of the "large bore" kits for a 660? It would increase the cylinder bore and thus the "cc" of the saw giving it more power... Big_Bore_Kit Porting it would be beneficial too, grinding out the ports with a diamond bit on a modelling drill then polishing to make the fuel/air and exhaust flow smoother...
  20. Sorry I was reading from old wine books There is one difficulty with making wine in that the sorbic acid which makes a good preservative for jam/marmalade made from it also hinders fermentation... This is what gives it the "astringent" taste... It's better to ferment the wine with only sugar and add the crushed berries/pomes at the end...
  21. You don't just have to distill it, if you pick the berries as the branches start to wilt, near fall, you can make a lovelly wine from them... A plan for me for next year, as near to my local legion there are 4 of these trees, moderately sized, which fruit really well Oh, the joys of home brewing from forraged fruit
  22. Tried a couple, no work as yet and I've been up to my eyeballs in red tape the past few days with a screw up at the JobCentre... Going to go round tomorrow giving it a good slog out calling round... I've been waiting on the last bits of PPE coming through to replace old stuff I had... Things seem to be picking up though, just have to see how it goes
