  1. Measure twice, cut once, one tool, one job!!! Saves a fortune, earns you thousands
  2. Anything, I occasionally get asked to do "building cutting" so it's nice to be able to hop a bridged TCT chain on and cut concrete, whilst a friend soaks me and the saw with a hose haha... Edit: I own a few sets as I used to work in the industry
  3. I wanted the 460 for the power though, and that Stihl guaranteed it with TCT chains... Edit: I've spoken to another dealer and they're looking into it... I've contacted the folkes I know at Stihl too, when they get up in the morning heads will be rolling... I used to provide technical help to some of them so favours are owed!!!
  4. Paid for a MS460W before January 1st... Got an email today when the company I bought it from ordered it and they said "Stihl have said it's discontinued as of 2010"... I've responded saying nothing was on "their" website nor "Stihl's" saying so so the order has to be honoured... I know some of you will call me a sissy for asking for a heater but I get really bad cramp with arthritis in the winter, I can work through it but a heater means I can power on all day long without having to "warm up"... Should I force the issue with Stihl, the supplier and the "office of unfair trading" or should I try and grin and bear it??? There was nothing on the Stihl website and if this wasn't available in 2010 the comapny by rights shouldn't have sold it... They've offered me a 440W which doesn't meat the level I wanted or a 660W at increased cost which is too heavy for me at the minute, also it can't manage a 15" bar for the course I'm doing... Thought I had it "game set and match" but then got hit with this... I'll take the standard 460 but only if they'll kick themselves in the knackers and knock a load off for it being "ex stock" and give me extra freebees... What do you think???
  5. True, you only get one body so why risk it
  6. Excuse me for probably sounding dumber than Rossj but what's the issue with felling frozen trees???
  7. "Look no hand" Pretty quick but he won't be smiling when there's blood pouring everywhere lol... Hmmm, rednecks Saw that one a few years ago, he was "well known" to the neighbourhood, got an award or something???
  8. Could you not get a ramp welded out of galv steel and put a aluminium chequer plate over the top??? Would take all the effort out of packing hardcore and would save you a hell of a lot of time...
  9. I think the trick I found was not being bothered... If your out in it and having to work in it, it only bothers you if you let it. We're 70% water, maybe less after a heavy weekend out , so why let a little bit extra cause a problem
  10. Who needs gortex? hehe... Water's water, when I work I burn up so all I'll need is something to stop my legs getting severed and that'll do... No funny jokes about "chaps" please I'm looking forward to it to be honest, first time I think I've done something positive in years... I'm not a conformist, I make up my own mind... Cheers for the support, Paul you have my pm, Karen, sounds like I've made the right choice Oh and Paul, if Tree work were a "sentence", I'd happily do it for more than ten years
  11. At the minute I need all the luck I can get, seems to be a little thin on the share I've had this year
  12. Cheers! I might ask a lot of questions to start with, nagging maybe, but then I just go and get the job done and don't have to ask again...
  13. Fair enough, that's sort of what I've got planned Used to have to work outside in all weather, like you say, once I'm going I don't stop and it doesn't bother me... If I've a job to do, I've got to do it, it won't do itself with me stood there watching As for taking stick, once settled I can give as good as I get
  14. I appreciate the comments but to be fair I'm sick of being in an office and want to do something with my life and get out there working... I don't mind hard work, effort gets you quite a long way...
  15. Just getting myself off the ground and into the pro world of tree work... I've done quite a bit in the past prior to being forced into an office behind a desk... Long story, nothing done wrong, just no viable work or money at the time... Getting booked in for CS30 in February and a few others for weedkillers and use of a petrol strimmer, which I also own... Looking to work towards doing a Treework lvl3 NVQ, just wondering if it will be worth doing the NVQ or just getting my tickets and getting out there working??? Jim.
  16. Hi new here... Going for CS30 end of Jan... Had a tough year, made redundant twice so going back to work I've done in the past "off the cuff" and getting tickets sorted and back out there... Sick of working behind a desk lol... Jim.
  17. Just to up the stakes a little there are these as well: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Sunforce-Million-Candlepower-Rechargeable-Spotlight/dp/B000VHF3JK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1262004298&sr=8-1]25 Million Candle power!!!!![/ame]
