  1. Carb might need retuning or adjusting... Check the impulse hose for blockages or wear too and the filters in the carb... Fuel line could do with a look too and the air breather on the tank...
  2. But by the time it's consumed it doesn't have time to settle... A 5% mix would take weeks to begin to separate, even then there's a very high probability it wouldn't even have started to separate... Again bringing the attention to the government isn't going to do anything, it's a major source of their income and as oil sources are being depleted rapidly, North sea reserves at an all time low as well as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, there's nothing we can do other than to find a way of not having to buy it on a general public scale... We can't, so they've got us by the short and curlies... Then the government has no income, then other services like police, fire and nhs start to suffer... There's a bill going through at the minute for CO2 tokens, you get allocated so many per year per adult... If you use them up you have to buy more to buy fuel, if you don't use them up you can cash them in...
  3. Just got in a eaten spag bol, I'm single, well after what happened glad to be so as I can't run my saw this late I'm on here
  4. Sadly I agree with Steve, unless you can stop the crude getting to the refineries it gets you nowhere... BP and Shell jointly own most of them and all sub-distributors fuel comes from them... Blockades serve no purpose other than to increase Joe publics need for fuel, therefore the prices go up and you then have nowhere to go other than a now very expensive petrol station... Diesel can contain upto 5% water, if agitated, as in in a tank on a truck, car or otherwise you'll never know and it could contain more; except for burning more fuel than normal... The only way to separate it is with a drying agent which would take days or weeks and a load of equipment... NB: The drying agents required cost about £1.00 a kilo and you'll need a kilo per gallon to make it effective, you do the maths... Bear in mind a litre of fuel is approximately 1 kilo... They've got you all ways, the only way to go is Bio-diesel from cooking oil but that's taxable and HMRC are latched onto it like an irremovable lock...
  5. And the magnets come from China I think where there's a toxic lake killing kilometres of land and people...
  6. Hmmmm, should have recorded it before modding I've a few links to go through with modded saws and the sounds to look for so should get somewhere... As I was bringing it up to ~14000 it sounded happy...
  7. Ok... I'll run it in for a bit then slowly open her up... The saw wants to run fast, could tell that from adjusting the carb, how would you describe the "crackle", like "bacon frying"???
  8. Lost my job last Friday and been given a month in lieu... That's not to say I'm sat here doing nothing, I'm doing some work for a former employer that's taken me on part time in the short term to keep me "off the system"... It's handy cause I can work from home and only go in a couple of days a week when there's room for me... Getting job applications sent off too...
  9. I hate to say it but it was a "one off" I caught on eBay... The company in Germany I used off eBay was good enough for parts, sadly their English isn't too good, but Google translator works fine Saegenspezi
  10. My biggest worry wasn't actually the cylinder upgrade... It was the addition of the heated handles... I sourced the flywheel from Canada as Stihl wanted ~£120 for a "specialist" part, it cost me £30 including shipping from Canada plus a spare wiring loom and spare generator... The heating seems to work great, good for keeping my gloves dry For some reason the saw seems to idle better with the heated handles switched on too, wasn't sure if the generator would somehow slow or "sync" the flywheel or smooth the ignition???
  11. Got the rev specs from the Stihl manual and the supplier... The clutch starts to kick in at about ~3000rpm, so 2750 is borderline, but happy... I've had it up to ~13750 but want to bed it in properly before letting it out to make sure everything is happy. Then again, I'm suffering with blocked ears from catarrh so I may have missed the 4 stroking Then again, you have to be gentle opening the throttle, but once going that's it, you choose either full or idle!!! Took me about 2 hours once I'd got all the bits and 30 mins tinkering with the tacho, taking my time... I've a 12" to 15" beech log to test it on for "cookies" Will try this weekend, may have a camera now too May have to fiddle with the oiler, went through quite a bit testing the saw, but after the fiasco with a blocked pump at least I know it's working...
  12. Was a bog standard one of a guy in Germany off eBlag...
  13. Right, having recently lost my job and having a wee bit of time on my hands I decided I wanted a little more power on my MS460... So... I got hold of an aftermarket 54mm cylinder and piston and a Magnum muffler for the extra port... Also got a tacho and a new carb so I could richen it up plus an 8-tooth sprocket... Sadly no pictures, no camera I got everything fitted and used the tacho to get the idle to about ~2750rpm, the set the high speed to ~13250rpm... Everything seems fine but I'd like a little help making sure I've set it right... I'll say one thing "SHE RUNS!!!" , I thought the saw was powerful before but bloomin heck!!! Oh and the long term project, I added heated handles
  14. It's going the other way that's no right turn, my bad
  15. There's major roadworks and single file traffic in Wilmslow at the moment and it's causing quite a bit of chaos at peak time both ways... If you can cut through at the turn off for Sainsbury's and John Lewis do it, but leave a little early to make sure There's no right turn, I think, if you come off onto the A34 at the lights across Altrincham road so your next turning is the one above at Sainsbury's...
  16. Avoid kingsway at 8:00am!! You'll just end up in a big traffic jam... The other way will probably be better Come off the M56 at junction "2" and then follow the first left, Altrincham road back on itself until it meets Longley lane, then towards Styal road... Edit: It think it's "no right turn" at the junction of Kingsway/Altrincham road...
  17. Just went about filling the application form in, I hate the bits that say "describe using previous examples how you'd fill these roles..." Oh and BTW, I lost my job last night
  18. Thanks and cograts to all!! Really good cause IMHO, was nice to see such a good response in such "needy" times
  19. The bio oil will probably be better for him as it's vegetable based and not mineral based... I think him throwing up may be better than having the "runs"... If he's scoffing lots of saw dust he may just be trying to "clean" his stomach... What does he eat? If it's mainly protein they do do it from time to time with wood or grass...

    Husky 450e

I'm going away over Christmas to Norfolk to stay in a log cabin in a wood... A friends offered me the use of their Husky 450e to chop fallen trees and firewood, I'm a Stihl user by preference but can't take my MS460 with me so want to know what the 450e's like??? Pros and cons anyone???
  21. It's a pity all the houses were built so close together that there isn't "driveway" access to the rear... You'd get a fortune if you offered each of the home owners enough land to double the length of their gardens, a rough guess at $5k to £10k each, the value added to their houses would be quite a lot more with that amount of land... And then you'd be left with a still pretty sizeable plot...
  22. Sorry for all the questions I just want to get an idea of the area... A bit more like this?
  23. So pretty much the top half split across the screen, or the top half of the box I've marked?
