  1. Letter just says they have had numerous complaints with regards to burning waste. There is some houses at the top of the lane, we have always waited until the wind is going the other way but in doing that the pile ends up huge and once lit smolders for a good week
  2. True dat...use skid steer...could you hire something with a conveyor so you could cram it on that?
  3. The thought had crossed my mind, would have to be some sort of crane fed affair.
  4. Told by environment agency.
  5. After 6 years of burning all of out waste ie sweepings hedge clippings knotty bits of wood fence panels etc, i have being warned by the powers at be i can no longer burn anything! How do most folk dispose of their waste? just being quoted £70 a ton green waste We do generate a fair old whack so composting etc is out of the question
  6. I dont mind paying a hardworking lad a decent wage for a good days graft but as an owner operator the amount of pratting around in my own time that has to be done to keep everything legit is a piss take! Especially when some lads think its ok to do as they please! People are getting thicker and more idle! As the government cant baby everyone the emphasis is put on employers do to everything as the employee cant be arsed!
  7. As an employer in this modern age you cant do anything to upset an employee, must not say anything to offend them or question their days off, cant work them too much, have to go above & beyond paying them, supply their ppe pay for their holidays monitor their health generally baby them through everyday tasks so they don't hurt themselves, some you even have to think for! oh and now the government says you must also set up for them & pay into their pension too. Dont forget the bog roll as you will soon have to wipe their arses for them...once you have done a risk and method statement so they dont hurt their bumsies!!! ffs!
  8. Looking for a full time groundsman working out of Wakefield area, no experience necessary will be doing general ground duties, stump grinding & fencing. Call Simon on 07977114605
  9. We have recently had this also...took a load of trees down for a customer who needed to clear the trees on his own land to make an access road in so he could build on it, we was pre warned about a pita in the end house soon as we got there she was out asking what we was doing and we didnt have her permission! after explaining that we did not need it as the trees were nothing to do with her she did everything in her way to stop the last remaining tree coming down! Towards the end of the first day she came back out saying there's bats in it "despite not saying this earlier on" we then had a police wildlife officer come out to stop the tree coming down. Day later wildlife consultant comes out spends 10 mins looking at it to say there no bats crack on! tree comes down she moans some more we get paid and go home! i am not saying there is never bats in trees when they are down to be removed but some people use it as an excuse just to stick their noses in and get their own way!
  10. Looking for an extra pair of hands on site and at the yard, on an as and when basis, will mostly be assisting with ground work, splitting logs & labouring when fencing. Working out of Wakefield. Pm me on here or call Simon on 07977114605

  12. Ahhh hydraulic power
  13. Your best off buying a tipper, who knows how the business will grow in the near future, if you upgrade the chipper you will hate having to shovel chip off the back!
  14. How many employees do folk have if wages is their biggest outgoing? Last year 2 of us did just short of 100 grands worth of work, i want it to increase again this year but instead of getting another employee and spend all year wiping their arse financially i have invested in a skid steer which is paying off already.
  15. What is the biggest outgoing your business has? after going overboard buying machinery this year i have put a stop on the old bank card getting used too much! looking through bank statements the fuel bill seems to be ever increasing with no way of stopping it!
  16. Exactly this...we rarely knock if its raining unless its going to cause more work on site, were normally packed tight with work so just the logistics of moving stuff around can be hard work in its self
  17. The trees are nhs owned and are pushing a large wall over onto a public footpath hence the reason they are being removed, Why do you need a felling licence? the way the application reads its under the assumption that i am felling hectares of trees in woodland??? And they aim to come back to you within 10 weeks!
  18. I have a job of removing approximately 20 Lombardy poplars, do I need a felling licence for this? Does it go on the volume of timber? What is the process involved etc. I have never done this before.
  19. Having never produced kindling before i am considering processing our softwood, we hardly ever sell any softwood and seem to throw tons of it on the bonfire pile! i am wanting to try and reduce the amount of waste and turn it into a product we can sell. Is there a machine out there that can make kindling from rings? or is it all palletwood etc? Is it labour intensive or a 1 man operation?
  20. bloody hell...how long did that take to find?
  21. No photos but i recently bodged a leaking fuel pipe with a pen! worked well enough to keep the machine going until i could replace it.
  22. Yep Cheers
