  1. That is sort of the dilemma, at the minute having a narrow access machine is good for the work we do but i want to come away from domestic stuff and do bigger commercial jobs so access wont be as much of an issue. + i wanna be able to feed the machine with skidsteer.
  2. Brand spanker, they have rectified the problems i have told them about, the tinwork i have only just seen. Its not reliable so its ok redwoods having good customer service but its still time its sat not working and or time i have to come off site while an engineer fixes it. What happens when its out of warranty ? new chipper time i think
  3. Machine chips good but its had new electronic control module, then new ignition coil, problems with bearings colliding, metal work on chute is cracked! just noticed some more metalwork near flywheel is cracked. only got 270 hours on from new, not abused works hard when it goes out. Gutted really as i have just paid it off too
  4. Really happy with the grinder i bought off you dean...probably a 75xp tracked, weight i would of thought will limit the size of machine, most of the tracked bandits i have seen look really wide.
  5. Looking for a new tracked chipper as the forst we currently have is rubbish! looking for something bigger like bandit 75xp tracked new timber wolf looks good but i would rather have a bigger in feed, any opinions on bandit chippers "from people who have used them" or other options?
  6. Chip is not a problem, neither is log its the rest of the shite.
  7. £100 per ton green waste from biffa. Cheapest so far has being £70 a ton, that's for a skip at the yard collected as and when. £41 per ton + £10 for weighbridge @ leeds city council. Don't fancy hand balling 2 ton of waste into a container by hand though!
  8. Hole in the ground looks like the best option so far, is the air actually just blasted over the top or into it as well? must be some air going in as the fires on you tube are raging.
  9. What are fire bricks made of? We used to push fire against concrete blocks, they just went to dry powder in no time.
  10. Good point there bob, suppose the only cost of a pit is going to be the fan.
  11. They look the part, not exactly sure how much force it would need to create a curtain? the ones on you tube seem to be channeled through a conduit.
  12. I have struggled to find good staff for 7 years now, most have **** on me somewhere down the line, heared every excuse in the book as to why the didnt turn up! its successful because when everyone else has gone down the pub or on holiday i am still working, or when others have a day off i go out quoting. I put everything back in to invest in new machinery that is just starting to pay off and made a lot of sacrifices. Sick of lads starting out doing tree work then 6 months down the line deciding its not for them and leaving. I think maybe if i could drop on decent lads i wouldnt begrudge paying them a pension, but as a small firm who pays more than fair wages, 5 weeks paid holidays & bank holidays as well as working on job and knock basis how can the government force me to offer a pension to folk who are more than capable of sorting their own future out
  13. The thought had crossed my mind after seeing them on you tube but as Mr skyhuck says it would turn into a big pond in no time. There is nothing to them though, its just a steel box with some sort of fire brick in side with a load of air blasted over the top. Can pick up a skip for £200 just need a big fan of some sort.
  14. Following on from the disposing of waste thread have being thinking about building a forced air burner, maybe from an old skip or some sort? would only need a bit of pipe welding and a fan as to create an air curtain...maybe something to stop the heat from mullering the steel
  15. Didn't the government bring a stakeholder pension out years ago where you could opt in if you wanted to and the firm contributed too? Think not many people did hence why automatic enrolment is happening now!
  16. I didnt get paid enough, so I worked 2 jobs 7 days a week so I had enough money to start my own business. Because I wanted a better future for me and my family.
  17. Its bollocks! if you want something you go and earn it! you don't sit on your arse waiting for hand me outs! too many folk living beyond their means then ending up with nowt! Ive had a pension since i was 16 and have always put savings away. because i have a decent business that has being built up through my own hard work determination and a lot of sacrifice its ok for me to financially support others in their old age? what a piss poor country we are slowly becoming.
  18. This...
  19. Just skimming through this shower of ****, i don't understand how you can be forced to pay towards somebody's pension as well as paying them a wage? Automatically opted in so if my employee does not want to pay into the scheme i then have to pay the accountant to faff with paperwork to opt me out By 2019 employee pays in 4% of qualifying earnings, employer 3% and the government....1% wtf!!!!!
  20. Surely if there is room for a digger there is room for a grinder? Will be quicker in the end and cheaper as no stump to get rid of.
  21. Looking for a small flail to go on a vermeer skid steer, anyone done this already? pros cons...only a small 1 mostly for rough grass brambles and to mash all bits of twig left over after site clearance jobs...being told the lipa ones will fit
  22. Few from 1 of todays fells...all timber craned off site.
  23. Groundies want a bollocking...look at that brash piling up
  24. Its customers fence, cant plant owt behind as it will get wrecked, everything that's solid is industrial. Thought about double gravel board on bottom to make it awkward to kick then like verti lap panel but on the reverse butt boards up together and fix on. Will never get kicked through.
