  1. If you were to weld a chip box on a vehicle be it 3.5t or higher do you have to get type approval for the body?
  2. This...i usually say i offer no guarantee as such to cover rotting posts warping timber etc, but if a post were to blow over or something i would rectify the problem. as long as the job is done right you shouldnt have any problems.
  3. So how does it actually help your business from a buyers point of view? why would they choose you over a non arb approved company?
  4. sure its not the 230? the 280 has fixed tracks...
  5. Got 280 on demo next week, need to sort a decent job out for bandit when dean is back, would like a demo on the gm as they look decent.
  6. What you got johny? New chipper
  7. What are the gm arbtrak 200 like? Dealer in Wakefield not far away...
  8. How long does it take from start to finish? looks like a lot of stuff to work through.
  9. What sort of criteria do you have to meet to become arb approved? we are only a small 2 full time firm who brings in subbies as and when, neither of us have been to college, we only have ntpc tickets etc. Everything we know we have learnt from doing the job, we are more than capable of doing a good job and know the correct ways to prune etc, the technical side, pests diseases etc i wouldn't say we know everything but i dont know anyone who does.
  10. The thing that stoped me from going hgv last time was where to keep the vehicle, I rent a bit of land which is by no means secure. I know it wouldnt last 5 minutes down there!
  11. Thats all I know, I paid olmc to obtain my licence and tbh not sure if it was 6 or 12 weeks
  12. Think it comes down to the milage you do.
  13. Clean driving licence and good worth ethic is worth more than tickets! i look for cs30 as a minimum which as a newbie to me shows youve a bit of willing, 38 31 32 or owt else is a +
  14. Drove a new 1 when i worked at council was an 08 nice to drive but was always in workshop! probably down to how some folk was treating it How far out do you go with the tractor?
  15. Looks good, you will have to get some pics up when box is built is it on 6 weekly inspections or longer? restricted O licence?
  16. Would look better with that bandit on the back
  17. You could say that about a 10t or 15t...no matter how big it will never be enough, a balance would be good. With training now if i pay for it a get em to sign a contract saying if they leave within 12 months the reimburse the full amount after 12 months its 50% owt after that should get your moneys worth out of em
  18. The back is about same size as a transit isn't it? have you used it yet? must make it easier on site?
  19. We filled x2 trailer & van loads with chip & lifted half that out in a day with 3 men & skid steer! the van is a weak link at the minute.
  20. c1 + e is around £1700. which would otherwise probably get spent on fuel and time faffing about tipping with x 2 vans...i have class c and c1 + e so no probs.
  21. 10 k gets a decent 7.5 ton..
  22. You wont be much better off as the 6.5 ton iveco are not much bigger than a transit so volume wise your still screwed, we do quite a bit of fencing so the small van would still be handy for that & log deliveries etc, & on bigger jobs they both could run out...7.5t with road tow chipper then 3.5t with trailer on would be fantastic. Handballing would be a pita but then so is having to go tip.
  23. I have a big brian james tipper that i drag chipper out with then on bigger jobs fill the van then trailer its ok but still end up tipping twice. Most stuff we do i would get in a 7.5t vehicle, go to job do work then leave instead of go to site fill van...fill trailer then have to tip so i can pick chipper up! its eating up too much time.
  24. After stupidly surrendering my operators licence last year i am trying to find the best solution for chip & log etc. Is it better to have 2 3.5t tippers or a 7.5 toner on site? i already have a 3.5t which i would keep for smaller jobs but take the 7.5 tonner on bigger stuff. Extra fuel running 2 vehicles around all the time would surely cost more than running & operating a 7.5 t vehicle.
  25. Dont like em ian, hear from horses mouth that gm are not up to much lately.
