  1. So after finally running over a weigh bridge i can determine that i am 20kgs under the legal maximum weight the trailer can carry! i now need to find a weigh bridge that can weigh each axle as i suspect 1 is probably over weight. After numerous calls to dvsa & my local vosa test centre about 8 local weigh bridges i managed to find a free weigh bridge not too far away. only problem is the wheels on the trailer are not spaced far enough apart to register each axle weights anyone know of a weigh bridge in the Wakefield Leeds area?
  2. What exactly does the s stand for? i assume the weight displayed is for the tow ball and the pin or would they have different weights? So much to take into account, trailer weights, axle weights, load distribution, nose weight
  3. Possibly yes, i have noticed that they seem to vary from 50kgs to the highest ive seen so far 350kgs. I am trying to get a tracked chipper & skid steer on the trailer together, on paper the weights are fine but in reality! there's a lot of weight that will cause serious damage it it ever became detatched so i wanna make sure its legit.
  4. True but i would imagine when you factor in real world driving conditions there will be situations where excessive weight will be placed upon the towball - eye its self. I think what bob said applies for any trailer according to a gov website.
  5. Just seen the tow ball is made by witter and has 250kgs wrote on it! surely this cant be the maximum load pressing down upon it the vehicle is capable of towing 3.5t Isuzu Grafter and the trailer Brian James twin axle can carry 2.610kgs. even with the load directly over the axle when braking or going over potholes the load imposed on the tow bar must by far exceed 200kgs
  6. I know that each axle can legally carry a load of 1750 kg so tomorrow its weigh bridge time...there must be a maximum weight that can be applied to the tow ball and or trailer hitch? is this correct?
  7. Cheers bob...
  8. I think anything below 305 mm projection either side then legally your not required to do anything.
  9. I am trying to find out how much over a load can legally project from the sides of my trailer. Can anyone point me in the right direction? dvsa website is completely useless!
  10. I wanna put a light bar on my skid steer but am a bit pap with wiring where would be the best place to splice a new live to? is it a matter of putting a fuse & a switch into a circuit?
  11. It would be nice to skip to the 3rd survey bit but an angry resident is using the "tree has bats in it" as a reason to put a stop on the job until the survey is completed!
  12. There seems to be a lot of folk on this thread who like to burn things.
  13. Had the vermeer out on site for the first time today, 2 lads mid 30's & my 74 year old dad did a hell of a lot of work with it, having the capability to move big lumps or drag full trees to where you need them is superb.
  14. How long does a bat survey take and what does in entail?
  15. Not much difference in dimensions & weights between machines, the 800 can lift slightly more. S800TX_Spec_Sheet_0915.pdf
  16. The S800TX on paper is 40.5" wide the S725TX is 36"
  17. Get a demo, there will be loads of jobs where it just wont fit, but I recon on the ones it will that's booked in will save loads of time on site & we wont be killing ourselves with log.
  18. New grafter has being a good work tool so far.
  19. I should be taking delivery of this tomorrow.
  20. Big fan of Uniforest stuff...well built
  21. That hunkers down nicely for gate ways, Are boxer uk still selling old stock off? their website doesn't seem to say anything about no longer importing them.
  22. Had to google Manutention lol...depends on access, size of timber, vehicle set up etc. bigger is definitely better in terms of moving material but if it cant get in its not much good i suppose.
  23. We do a mixture of work some jobs where it wont be much use others will it will be a big help. Imo each machine will be better on different jobs and unless you can afford 1 of everything its a case of getting what you think will work best. I can get the tracked chipper and skid steer on the trailer together, i couldn't realistically fit anything bigger on.
  24. I think the state the pound is in has maybe played a factor...a lot of money either way! I worked out on 1 of our jobs without it 3 men a good day and a half as everything would need ringing and handballing. with a machine a day easy and your not on your knees by 3
  25. Had 1 on a little demo today really capable machines. Price of S725TX with standard bucket is £20100 + vat Price of S800TX with standard bucket is £23100 + vat Log Grab £2400 + vat
