  1. its a good question,,,, we manage about 1m3 with a riko 11Ar spliter every 45 mins, if its nice rings under 18inch,,,,,,, from arb waste. I question buying in artic loads of straight firewood at £40 per ton,+ £10 per ton delivery, so a ton on average producing 1.5 cubic meters (presuming the timber was green when delivered)= I charge £80 per m3, so 1.5 m3 from the ton would return me £120,,,,after costs of,,,,,,,£50 wood, then add labour, storage(ie yard rent)fuel for delivery, cubic net bags, ,,I cant see it makes commercial sense unless you have a fancy bit of £15k kit,(processor) plus £10k worth of loader,,,,(which you need a return on) then i see why your m3 price must be £100 plus! I think people selling arb waste firewood can afford to charge less for the end product as we`ve usally been paid to remove it, but it takes longer than processor timber!

  16. hi mate, sanding is key, depending on your milling finnish, dont jump too many grits,as each one, eradicates the marks from the previous, I usually sand up too 400 grit, then apply a cuprinol woodworm killer, this serves two purposes, a/ obviously kills and prevents nasties b/ raises the grain,,,too many people sand too a lovely finnish then oil, varnish, ths raises the grain and doesnt give the ultimate finnish,, if you dont need to cuprinol it, you`ll get the same effect rubbing it over with a wet rag, i tend to dictate what finnish I finnally give it depending on its use! coffee table would be oil finnish, picnic table , yatch varnish/linseed oil/white spirit,,,,,mix etc,,,, I`m forunate to have a 24 inch planer so now cut out endless sanding,,,,good luck,,,,
