  5. go on a few weekend courses mate, the pole lathe association, coppice groups etc have fab weekends that donk cost a mint, and are run by experience like minded people,,,,you`ll learn loads,,,
  6. been quoted £44 + vat today delivered,,,mixed hardwood,,,,!

  8. I second this, jack hill was a ledgend,,,his country woodwork book is good, I have two copies of his chair book, and have made his kids rocking chairs for both my kids and my nieces,and there still going strong,,,
  9. thanks for input rob, maybe I was too quick to bite!,but,,,I make my benches in the time frame that allows me to sell them at a cost people can afford, so the leg construction is a little traditional, but its not as quick as some might think, morticed and tennoned takes longer than just large sides attached with a battern, and its stronger, I`ve made tricker benches and carved detail into them, and as much as I love doing it,they dont provide the return i need to justify renting a yard and paying bills,,,,,,so yes am slave to reality,,but still not working in a factory,or supermarket,,,and I love my job! and love turning my arb waste into something other than firewood,,,

  15. aint trying to be funky,,as much as I like the legs on your current table, i dont have the time to do it on the amount of stuff I make, it has to be viable !
  16. how about a collapsable kiln? build it round your stack of timber? not sure how feesable ,but sounds easier?

  18. were based in twyford,just outside reading, on a estate,,there quite common here, rarely a day goes past without them circling over my yard,,amazing to watch:thumbup1:
  19. sort of? I`m milling in the back ground,(so hes not technically aloneH&S,and he`s splitting rings already prepared, as thats how we take them off site from tree work,,,
