  1. Fountain of knowledge once again . Although I think you have more faith in me with the OP than I do lol. Is it just a standard double braid mate? Good call. Wonder how much I could charge
  2. Unfortunately it was my boss lol No you were right, the red one is fly, that looks a tricky splice. I'm not holding out much hope for the blue one. I've also decided to splice some 16mm marlow braid & some ocean polyester. They don't look great either. I'm seem to be really shooting myself in the foot for some reason
  3. Can anyone help with which splicing instructions to follow for these two ropes? Both of these have been used, so I'm not sure how easy they'll be. Thanks, Dan
  4. Good luck mate. I'll be following you out there in about 4 weeks
  5. Hi everyone I'm off to sunny Oz, hopefully by the end of next month if I'm organised. I'm going to need insurance to cover any medical expenses. It's got to cover me for climbing BIG trees & doing any nutty sports I fancy etc. It seems lots of people from Arbtalk have been, or are going out there & was just wondering if anyone's found any good insurance companies or policies?
  6. Yea you're right mate. My groundies have been good with this so far. Big trouble if they weren't lol Its never slipped so far. This isn't the actual ring I rig with. I use a small cambium saver ring and a big biner to increase the bend radius and friction. Your right about the biner mate. I just did these pics in the back garden a min ago, in bare feet shorts & it was drizzling . But I have pushed my luck with them in the past before & really shouldn't
  7. Here you go mate. Just ran out in the garden & quickly set this up. Hope this makes it a bit clearer
  8. Hi Matt Learnt a top tip from Rupe on here that I use. I've got a length of 1 - 1.5m rope with an eye at each end with a biner in one eye. One end gets choked round the log as per usual. The other end, instead of a friction hitch you pass a bight of the already tied off rigging line through a small cambium saver ring and clip the biner to that bight. This acts as a nicely adjustable friction device, locking off under load. Hope this makes sense. Ps. Thanks Rupe
  9. Was at the show on friday & did a bit too much shopping The guys at Sorbus were really good. Good prices & were really happy to do a good deal. Thanks guys. You're all top blokes
  10. Same I'm off there tomorrow too. May see you there mate, I'll be the one buying bundles of rope.....that I cant afford

    TreeRise

Wicked video & wicked tunes bro Well jealous. ATM I'm waiting for my Ozy visa to be processed & hopefully accepted, fingers crossed. Where in Oz are you? Those trees look epic!
  12. Here you go mate. I do most of my graphics stuff in this. You can also turn graphics into svg files that never pixilate when enlarged. Inkscape. Draw Freely. sorry, finished reading your post. Give me a shout if you have any trouble & i'll do my best to help
  13. That tat looked pretty cool but a bit too colourful. I've been toying with the idea of a tree/climbing tat. I drew a bit of a tribal monkey to use on business cards originally. May develop it a bit more though.
  14. Thanks mate. Your splicing always get spoken of very highly here so that means a proper compliment I was hoping to get to the show this weekend to pick up a load of tenex & whatever else takes my fancy but a fairly big job has come up & i just cant say no to the money
  15. Cheers mate . Yea, I'm not sure I will in future. My hands were at cheese grated after all that. Think I may have to start doing 16 strand. Only really been doing double braids for some reason. I bought two at Capel from Treeworker. Didn't realise it was a fancy colour for them. I feel super cool now
  16. How did you get on Matt. Any luck? I've just done a bit of silver streak, went not too badly. High Scale pretty much said what I'd say
  17. DONE! It took me shifting as much of the cover slack over to the unfinished eye side & putting a prussic onto it. then anchoring the prussic & milking it. then doing it again & again till it was fully buried, or until my hands were sore
  18. Hi everyone Wanting to make a rope guide, I've started to splice some silver streak on to a pinto. Only thing is im stuck Splicing the second eye onto the pinto is bloody awkward to say the least. There doesn't seem to be enough length in the I2I to complete the final bury. Would really appreciate any tips or advice. Pic attached, 1000 words & all that Dan
  19. What the hell's he doing with that saw?!
  20. Dropped you an email mate.
  21. I was under the impression that the advise was 2.5 x diameter of rope. I may be mistaken, but 10cm tails on 10mm cord seems a bit much
  22. Haha, brilliant Arborist Women's V-Neck Dark T-Shirt by mnlakewear| CafePress.co.uk
  23. Ive never had one break on me either, always a first time though Was it your topper or a bigger saw mate?
  24. I've got to be the first to admit that my knowledge of all the different types of diseases & the way they decay a tree is limited . You inspire me to gain a true understanding of this side of tree work.
