  2. Few more offerings from a wet weekend .
  3. Cool pics and cool oak mate . I love a bit of monkeying around.
  4. Nice one mate, looks like it'll work with my home made rope guide
  5. Cheers Atree and CraigD I am a bit particular about my splices and whipping.
  6. The 'My Splicing Attempts' has slipped way down to the second page! Here's a few since last time.
  7. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/29712-best-spiderjack-rope.html
  8. Wanted to give everyone some info and hopefully prevent future accidents. One of my colleagues was called out to a work accident site to give his opinion. A lowering device was secured with ratchet straps. It appeared that the webbing had been pulled too tight before using the ratchet mechanism, meaning there was very little webbing overlap around the ratchet's spindle. The ratchet straps failed under load severely injuring one of the arborists. Lets all make sure we're using our equipment right (I'm as guilty as the next person) and looking after ourselves and our work mates. All the best Dan
  9. SICK!
  10. Alright mate. Do you want to try out my Bashlins? They weren't a bad price.
  11. Cool video mate I got a Go Pro about a week ago for my birthday. Courtesy of my lovely girlfriend. Good girl
  12. Anyone need a climber in the Bucks, Berks and surrounding area. I'm staying with my girlfriend for a couple of weeks in High Wycombe before jetting off to Oz and think I'll go mad if I don't do any work. If you need a groundie, I'm more than happy to get stuck in on the deck. I come with climbing kit, topper, 4x4, 6 years under my belt & a bag of doughnuts. Short notice fine. Give me a call on 07898 746 281 Dan
  13. Good tip mate. Did they just whip the two sides of the loop together to form the eyes?
  14. Cheers mate, I hope to make it over. I'm in Oz for a year working. Be a shame not to get over to NZ.
  15. Hi mate. this is the incident line for reporting dangerous trees 01992 709880. Let me know how you get on with this. in the mean time I'll get the number of one of the better rangers.
  16. If I haven't gone mad after the 26hr journey to Oz, I'm sure an extra few wont push me over the edge
  17. Looks good mate. I put some plastic tubing into some magma ice & used it for the first time today. I think I loaded the eye too much & its creased the tubing at the half way point I've been wondering if we should actually be using friction cord for the pinto attachment. Surely its now subject to double the loading than it would be in normal application as a friction hitch, since there will be double the load at the pulley?
  18. cheers mate. I may have to find an exact location and take a trip over. I'll be in Oz in 2 weeks so it wont be that far. May even post a vid...........& show everyone how not to do it
  19. Anyone know where that tree is?
  20. sorry mate only just seen this. i'll get some contact details for you tomorrow mate
  21. Hi mate. The company I work for is one of the contractors for the Lea Valey. A lot of out work is in the Broxbourne area.
  22. Nice vid. Looked like a nice day for it too. What tune was that in the vid mate? Sounded like a nice bit of chill out.
  23. Cheers mate . Here's the work so far. The core is at full bury, the cover still has about 6 inches to go. It doesn't seem to have any taper to the burys in the instructions .
  24. OP done! wasn't bad as I thought at all . Finished off the rope guide & nearly finished some 16mm Marlow braid. Just the cover bury turned into a right bar steward so I've put it on the naughty step
  25. Get a pair of Minedl Air Streams. I've just swapped from blue ridge & they're the mutts nutts. No twisting or slipping for my spikes anymore
