  2. My bad Unfortunately a bit far from my second base.
  3. Hi Woody Where in Kent/Surrey are you based?
  4. I dont blame you. Not that i'm experienced at all but my bit of marlow gekko was a MASSIVE pig to do. The fid snapped when doing a second burry during the overlap. Now its parshly overlapped with a stuck loop of cover sticking out & my hands were destroyed by that point Still...all fun & games.
  5. Neither. I'm self employed & shelling out isn't going to earn me any extra money with regards to this. Also I'v worked with a couple of lads straight out of college who had these tickets & they couldn't reduce a tree. Takes more than a piece of paper IMHO
  6. Cheers High Scale I got me some piano wire from the music shop at the bottom end of Gloucester Rd then drilled a few holes in a 2cm diameter cylindrical bit of wood to us as a handle. Now there is a bit of yale silver streak with an eye in it hanging off my chin up bar. Been there for a week not quite finished The eyes nearly rammed home but the outer cover just lookes a bit to bunched up round the throat. I really gota get the money together for one of Nods courses. They look good...especially the splices afterwards
  7. Brilliant Cheers Jamie. Splicing assistance once again
  8. Used to work for P J Musk Trees based in Nazeing Essex. Do you know anyone from over that way?
  9. looks good a little bit like the husky top handle. whats the ballance of it like. it looks like it'd be front end heavy with the fuel & oil both at the front
  10. are they both 16 strand double braid?
  11. Hi Does anyone know what friction cord this is & what eye splice instructions i would need to follow. The next project is going to be an adjustable cambium saver & two eyed friction cord for my vt...hopfully:laugh1:
  12. Thanks for the replies. Its good to get other people in the trades view and opinions. I look forward to when my climbing can pull that kind of money. Just some more time, blood, sweat & tears. One day
  13. Have done. He actually got me the first contact Top bloke & great to learn the trade from, but he & i knew it was time for me to spread my wings. (que the violins)
  14. thanks everyone the only reason i ask is because i found myself, working for someone, getting private jobs, to other companies asking me if i could do a few days here, few days there. does this seem to be the natural progression of the job?
  15. I didn't realise people sub for more with a heavy rigging kit. I do like new shiny toys If you don't mind me asking, what sort of day rate do people charge with a rigging kit or what day rate are people happy to pay?
  16. Hi Question for all you freelancers out there. Do you supply your own heavy duty rigging equipment? ie big porta wrap (or other lowering device) and heavy duty rope? I'm thinking maybe 16mm+ Also to people who use freelancers. Do you expect them to carry this type of gear? Cheers Dan
  17. Sounds like a great job. Ironbridge is a beautiful area. I went on a bush craft course there....misty woodland at dawn. Picturesque
  18. What a brilliant video. A lot of respect for those guys.
  19. Cheers Jamie Yes iv marked up the core & i only put that knot there to stop the cover unraveling too much. As for the fid with a closed eye, would that still be made out of a coat hanger. because i dont think i'll be able to get it to fit through the overlap section. i was contemplating trying to get some throw line through and using it as a noose... Cheers for the help Dan Oh & the chin up bar has now doubled as a splicing anchor:thumbup1:
  20. Iv sorted a pic of it out to help with my explanation.
  21. Awesome thread. I'v had about 2.5m of cut off life line in the bottom of my bag for ages. So bent up a wire hanger & off i went.....but now im stuck half way. Has any one spliced marlow gecko? Iv formed the eye & buried the cover half way to where the core comes out. But now i cant get my coat hanger fid between the core & the outer yarns
  22. Oh i see. Then you can just take it back in after assending. Thats getting a try out soon
  23. Hi Drew. Nice pics, but i dont get the second one Whats the reason for the prussic and revolver? im assuming the revolver is attached to your harness.
  24. I use this to do my invoicing, just use the free trial. FreshBooks - Online Invoicing, Time Tracking and Expense Service The companies I'v been working for are all happy with the email invoicing feature. I think mainly because if they loose them in the truck, they just print another
  25. Will do mate. Cheers for that
