  1. Nice one. Thanks mate, just checking them out now
  2. Climber looking for work in the Bristol Gloucester area. I hold cs30 31 38 & 39. Have my own equipment & 4x4. Im 24 with 3 years climbing under my belt & looking for more Living in Bristol & willing to travel. Easy to get on with. I like working with other people, especially other climbers. All work considered. Message me for further details Thanks, Dan
  3. All good advice there mate. You'll definatly be starting on the ground though, but thats where we all have to start. Hopfully you'll get on with a good boss who after a bit lets you get up the trees & do a bit at your own pace, but keeping a patient eye on you with constructive criticism. That'll be how you find your own tecnique & climbing style. Good luck with the job hunt Here ends my ramble for today sorry i know i go on a bit
  4. I know people think the carbon fibre ones are the dogs but I really didn't like them. Infact at my last company we all used to avoid having to climb on that pair. The velcro fastening round the ancle is shite IMO. You are much better off with a good pair of allys.
  5. I did hear on the grape vine that Petzl are launching their own version this spring ready for the comps
  6. Did you manage to get hold of Steve Pike in the end mate? If not Pm me your number & I'll pass you on to him.
  7. It did look a bit confusing. thats why i wanted to give it a go.The Tree Climbers Knotbook describes it as "a long form of the lock jack, but should only be used by experienced climbers." That's always a sure fire way to get me interested
  8. Was going through the tree climbers knot book and found a Hansa Hitch. Here's a link Hanseknoten I do like shaking things up a bit and trying new stuff & want to give this a go. Does anyone use this or have tried this out? Dan
  9. f8's are always my preference. I know i should back them up but never do but i don't feel i need to on a 13mm Ddrt system. I can jump out of a tree & it still be too slow for me...frustratingly so. When i was training me & a couple of other climbers used to do "The Test of Faith" lol. Jump out on a f8 on an srt system & let your mate on the ground stop you just short, by holding the tail end. HSE wouldn't have liked it, i know. But we did
  10. I use a tree magic 2 & i love it. even though it can be a nut crusher at times, but elasticated boxers are the key although i am only about 11.5st. I know some bigger climbers about 16st. none seem to have gone for the more modern types. they climb on komet butterflys/dragonflys. hope this helps mate
  11. Wow! I'v never seen that done before. Hi Gibbon. Im new here. I can see the benefits of that type of reduction but some of the people i work for would have a fit if i did that Does the job take much longer doing it that way as opposed to the "traditional way"?
