  1. That's ok mate. I've got loads I'm meant to be getting on with, but I keep gravitating back to arbtalk
  2. Thanks for the replies WeeDee and High Scale. I will attempt it one day and hopefully get it destroyed to see what the splice holds up to. In my mind it just doesn't seem like a kernmantle splice will retain as much of the rope strength as a class 1 or 2 does on db's. I may be completely off the mark though. Has anyone any experience of breaking the fly?
  3. How did you find it? I've not braved a kernmantle yet. I do like a splice to look tidy when it's done and it doesn't really seem possible with the fly. On another note. Who's going to the rich hattier seminar tomorrow?

    Ported 3120

Hi Reg 3120 sounds like a beast! Do you know how much those mods affect the life expectancy of the saw? Cheers, Dan
  5. The one I bought you yesterday didn't come with a solid tether
  6. Yea good point mate. I've never tried out a mechanical device on a really shite tree. I still climb on a vt because I've not found a mechanical device that works with my climbing style. Having said that, this looks like it's the closest so far.
  7. I don't see any issue in using a mechanical device and standing up that tree.
  8. Marlin spike and elbow grease mate
  9. Was thinking of putting a rocket together for the tall ascents. MOG what do you use as the chest harness set-up? Was thinking of getting a PMI chest roller harness
  10. I do try though! They should sponsor me, the amount I drink
  11. That sounds good bro. You point out the trees and I'll bring the beer . You going to the QL Arbor Camp in September?
  12. Oh sorry, i didn't know what they were called. Are many people climbing on the bulldog? Sent from my GT-S5360 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Na mate. For the past year I've been in Melbourne Australia but I'm at the folks place in Hertford atm. Royston's not far from here though.
  14. Cheers for the advice mate ......but what's a bulldog?
  15. That looks awesome brown cow, really good video too. I really need to get over to WA and climb some of the karri. Only ever done regnans in vic and taz. What srt setup are you using on the big climbs? My arms seem to cook with the frog walker
  16. I'm itching to get up a decent tree! I'm fortunately/unfortunately going off to vienna for a week this thursday. If I'm back in the Herts Essex area when it happens would it be ok to tag along please mate? Atb Dan
  17. 'Sport strop' Isn't that just a normal strop after you hit it with a silky.....ay Ewan
  18. My problem is that I need a heat resistant cord, but I cook it too quick. I love swinging in trees and that's what glazes them. I cooked an ap prusik easily in a weekend on a big reg gum with some great swings.....so much fun
  19. I did feel the same. Have tried the sj but im not very ambidextrous This looks good though because it seems to engage and disengage in the same way as a prusik but I'm hoping it's going to give a consistency a prusik cant. Plus i seem to cook through ap far too quickly
  20. Petzl ZigZag mechanical prusik rumours... | Facebook Looks like it's got the potential to be very good. Can obviously see a few similarities
  21. Yea. Sub 3tonne = light rigging Ewan! You're a right vertex vent! Sent from my GT-S5360 using Tapatalk 2
  22. That looks tidy Tuttle. Is that what you use for your main pulley on light rigging jobs? I've made up an e2e out of the 4t yale bracing, with a 13mm srte light rigging pulley off of it. Nice and compact for the back of the harness for the odd bit of small stuff.
  23. That was my spider leg. It was inch amsteel running on 19mm dynasorb. I was using them on a big cypress dismantle, everything was getting rigged off big. The spider legs were being used to balance limbs to take everything in one. Everything seemed to balance nicely but after I took the largest limb off, the amsteel prusic had to be peeled off the dinasorb. No significant slippage occurred because the limb balanced nicely but even so what little did occur damaged the spider leg. I had thought amsteel would be fine in this application because of the nature of balancing. I still feel it would be good for this if using something else to adjust the spider leg.
  24. I thought it was only me thinking...I don't rig with a hot air gun
