  1. Second this. I'm currently doing my level 4 with Treelife at Westonbirt and I really underestimated the work load. You have to be extremely committed to me the deadlines. Jake Andrews
  2. I saw the video. Very impressive I must say. Unfortunately the video of the Ash management is not available to me. I'll try on the computer later. Jake Andrews
  3. Did you drill this tree David? Surprised it wasn't left as a habitat stick. Jake Andrews
  4. Oh well. At least your not on the clear up team! Jake Andrews
  5. Large Beech monolith from yesterday. Jake Andrews
  6. For safety purposes or the ecological purposes of standing deadwood Jake Andrews
  7. Shots look good to me John 🖒did you have to move the timber before the crane could get out? Jake Andrews
  8. David, can you explain the term 'haloing' for me in a bit more detail please?
  9. Great shots. Looks like a nice woodland to work in. Jake Andrews
  10. That's a beast of a machine. A nice mate to have, very useful[emoji106] Jake Andrews
  11. Oh and that tree you removed is a lot bigger now a climbers in it. Didn't look that big from the original photo. Good work. Jake Andrews
  12. No idea mate? It's a still shot from the video. Looks like it could be to me. Jake Andrews
  13. Yeh I know what you mean Mick, we are very very cautious when it comes to the grab near people. Climber stays below whilst the log is grabbed so the climber can't accidently get hit by it. Then he makes the cut. We're also on coms units in the helmets and the tractor drives communicates every single move first so the climber (and team ) is aware. Just a system we have come up with, works for us. In some ways it's not much different than using a crane with large chains swinging near the climber. We have chains that we use but this is a bit to high. Otherwise there would be no lift on the tractor left and will have to slide the log off the stump potentially causing shock load to the boom. 14. I'd love to take credit for it but it's not even a reduction. It does look like it though eh! It's a old pollard regrowth, not been touched since it was pollard. Jake Andrews
  15. Yeh mate it really was. Saved the ground getting smashed up and saves the rigging. Put straight into the back of the truck as well. Jake Andrews
  16. Looks like the grondy stance is a universal one! Jake Andrews
  17. Easy logging yesterday. Jake Andrews
  18. You can add another short leg to the biggest side branch and attach it on your other balancer with a prussik knot or klemheist. Add as many as you need to keep the limb balanced and stop it tipping. Have a look on YouTube for helpful videos. Jake Andrews
  19. I can't argue with that. Knowledge and experiance. Jake Andrews
  20. I think that's the same as most people Mark, which is a shame as they only see negatives and never see the benefits. Jake Andrews
  21. I think that could be because of their taboo. Maybe people don't want to still be seen as doing them when it is deemed out of date by some. I personally prefer it in some situations. Really longlasting and looks good when done right. Jake Andrews
  22. Just to much movement in them. You need static steel cable for a already failing tree. Stop the limbs moving and rod brace them together. Jake Andrews
  23. Really? I thought most people would be lost without them. I'm surprised you don't feel the need to replace it. Jake Andrews
  24. And you've got loads.........................to hand. I'll grab my coat[emoji21] Jake Andrews
