  1. Yeh it messed with my OCD for a while too! Can't really use the top hole of the HC because the tether would end up sloppy and will affect the performance of the wrench. Either side of the HC works fine, I preferred mine on the right.
  2. Yehhhhh Jesse. Proper smooth that. I thought your groundie was watching and eating an apple to start with. Hahaha.
  3. I thought it was good too David. A nice piece not only on Sean but the charity also.
  4. Found this beech protruding some adventitious aerial roots in its cavity. They were around 6 metres above ground and relatively well established. Eco recycling at its best.
  5. Sounds good mate. I'm in🖒
  6. Hi Sean. I would be willing to help with your mission and record veterans with you. Drop me a p.m and we could organise a session.
  7. That LHS branch looks very odd. Any pics of the bark on that one?
  8. This. I also find ring systems (spider systems) hard and time consuming to get right. Hardest is ensuring all leaders are braced equally.
  9. Now that I can agree with. Steel definitely has its place and people use cobra in the wrong situations IME.
  10. 😨😨😨😨 cobra over a chimney!!!!
  11. Cheers Darrin. Couldn't find it on any of the specs.
  12. Don't you know the rope diameter for the 2t?
  13. What rope diameter do you usually use rich? Only used the 4 tonne one. Wish there was a really small version (9mm) for small branches or unions.
  14. Where's the abrasion coming from? The moving stems in the wind? Isn't that what the abrasion strap is for? My problem with cobra isn't the same as yours. My problem with it is people use it in the wrong situations IMO just for fear that it is invasive to trees.
  15. But Cobra state a life expectancy. No? I have seen a lot more poorly installed steel cables than cobra TBH but that could be just that cobra hasn't been around as long. Durability stays within the manufacturers recommendations and period inspections from a qualified arborist.
  16. Old Aesculus stump left in the churchyard. Can't help but think the polyporus reminds me of an egg custard tart!
  17. I have to agree with Marc. I believe there is a situation for both. Don't use cobra on unions that you don't want to move, cobra for anything else. During my time in Australia I would be cabling approx 4-5 times a month and using both steel and dynamic for different situations. I have even installed both on a single tree where I couldn't install steel high enough because of insufficient holding wood and had to place it lower than ideal. I then installed cobra higher in the canopy to counteract the whiplash effect in high winds. I'm going on the AA cabling course next Saturday which should be good. I would like to no more about the British Standard and what it says. Looking forward to it.
  18. I'm only gutted that spurs didn't win at Stamford Bridge and that Leicester couldn't win the title at home. The ground would have been electric. Well done Leicester (from a Man.u fan).
  19. Cool, I just missed out on the Bristol one last week run by the AA, gutted. Looking at my options now. Sorry I can't help with your question.
  20. Agreed, my mind still boggles at how much more there is to learn in this industry. I'm really enjoying the fungal side of learning at the minute though. Love putting my new knowledge to work whilst observing on site.
