  1. Here's another that will be interesting to see how it performs.
  2. Practise on the 13mm until you feel like you need/want to upgrade to a 11mm arb line. Offers still there for a reccy if you want.
  3. Your on the right track with prussik sizes and personal preference with the rope really. 11mm can take most mechanical devices better than the 13mm and generally has better modern performance (more static) for modern climbing techniques.
  4. Solution? Seed planted 🍿🍿 https://www.instagram.com/p/BDHuEsowKvX/
  5. Nah I meant adding a biner to the system. Cross loading seems to be mentioned on most canopy anchors. Not saying it shouldn't be considered but it can be a bit ott at times. Amazing some people even leave the ground .
  6. That's what I read. All I'm saying is we haven't seen the tree and should be careful what we suggest to any one online. Iv climbed plenty of dead trees and sounds like you have but we've made the decision based on experience and being on site with all the factors in front of us.
  7. There's a difference between you doing it and advising someone else to do it.
  8. I feel someone will come back with the cross loading scenario on that one. I personally don't think it's an issue and have used it before but I still prefer the pinto tie off.
  9. 🔝Good advice this, don't think about other prices to much. There's always someone cheaper at the end of the day.
  10. Being whipper snappers they don't know much about starting fires properly and so it looked like a fast burning fire and as far as I can see there was little or no visible further damage to new wood. I wonder if the fungi may show its face this autumn due to wounding of the mycelium or lack of wood to feed on.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-35917107 This might answer some questions.
  12. On a walk in my local woods and spotted this sycamore which has been vandalised by the kids. It seems to be the local trend at the minute of setting off fires into decay pockets of various trees. My question is, do you think fire could have an effect on the mycelium of fungi and could it destroy it or set it back? Iv not had any personal experience of this and I'll keep an eye on it to see if anything delops. Your thoughts?
  13. Good point made, depends on what 'react' we are referring too. They react well to topping from a regrowth sense, I was coming from a decay a dysfunction point of veiw. Every topped Alder iv come across has had bad decay at the pruning points (similar too birch). With quick regrowth and a lack of follow up management makes them a bad tree to top IMO unless the client understands the future pruning required and if that's what they want.
  14. From a legal prospective, do the bees pose much risk to the public at low level I.e exploring kids? Here's a beech I conducted a climbing inspection on 4 weeks ago. Thought the hive was inactive until I poked a stick into the cavity to find the depth of it. 1 emergency decent later..............
  15. Looks as though your justifying your prescribed works with hard site evidence. Can't beat that🖒
  16. Was the stem/roots decayed? Or did the tree uproot?
  17. Chemicals are available at sherril.tree but very much doubt you'd get them here. It proves the technology is there but we're very restricted by what we can use over here. Quite frustrating some times.
  18. That cool Robert. Like that🖒
  19. I think it's difficult for tree officers to take the lenient (read: appropriate) approach towards tree management.
  20. Very interesting hearing of your experience as it's the first time I've seen it. I hope to be back over the coming years and will take pictures if I do.
