  1. shouldn't need a sedimenter, mine hasn't got one either but at the base of the fuelfilter (engine bay bulkhead) there should be a plastic wheel to undo to drain off water, i'd just change the filter and forget it..
  2. take one jumplead, fasten one end to a lump of metal on the engine somewhere, the lump at the front is ideal (thermostat) and fix the other end to the negative post on the battery, then try starting it.. according to haynes manual under the heading ENGINE DIFFICULT TO START WHEN COLD.. 1.battery discharged 2.ignition timing incorrect 3.battery terminal connections loose or corroded 4.preheating system faulty 5.wax formed in fuel 6.fuel injector fault 7.low cylinder compressions.
  3. to check the earth strap you can run a jumplead from the engine block to body or battery negative terminal, saves a mucky crawl underneath:thumbup:
  4. same here.. you gotta ask yourself if she's a keeper mate:001_tt2:
  5. i'd like to thank my family and imaginary friends, without fungus my life would be soo much more fun, only joking this has been pretty cool, the only thing i have ever won have been ebay auctions as the winning bidder and that usually costs me, congrats darren:beerchug:
  6. the only problem i can see is hillstarts and reversing up driveways, it only takes a few minutes to kill a clutch, you will need good tyres too for pulling it in winter. other than that i'd rather tow with a freelander than a 2wd vehicle:thumbup1:
  7. piccies? got to be better than them wheelbarrow tyres you were sporting at the weekend:thumbup:
  8. i see a purple one and a green one:001_tt2: is the blue one in your head?
  9. someone told me recently that if kretz is present and detectable the damage is already done, we have done a few big old beeches this year with it, horrible and brittle, one of them had failed big time, luckily onto a large open lawn but i wouldn't like to be monitoring a host tree..
  10. bmw's are rubbish in the snow, one pirouetted past me today, one more off the road this week can only be a good thing:thumbup:, k.deuesta can cause serious devastation:scared1:
  11. that was a brand new one, i'm not trying to put you off them, my neighbor has one that looks cool and he swears by it, yes it was pretty good off road in mud/bumps etc:thumbup1:
  12. had a play in the xtrail offroad at nec birmingham a couple of years ago, it let a lot of water in at the watersplash and the doors wouldn't open when it was crossaxled, also it creaked a lot when crossaxled but seemed ok otherwise..
  13. seasoned beech and rhodie, oak is next in the woodstore.. just fetched back a dead ash, mmm
  14. a ganoderma i found at the weekend while out at a quote, it looks like the thin lip one to me, not a bad size and there was one the other side about the same size, together they very nearly went around the entire stem..
  15. you wana see smoke? type tractor pulling into youtube.. darren-fingers crossed:001_tt2:
  16. i know someone who uses a freelander td4 for towing and he dreams of a disco, my woman has a disco and dreams of a freelander because the one my sis in law owns has heated seats..
  17. the starting procedure for 300tdi disco in cold weather, ensure all electrical equipment is switched off, turn key to glow plugs, depress clutch pedal, wait a little while, cross your fingers, close your eyes and repeat in your head 'come on-come on', then gently turn the key and hope for the best.. oh and if your name's darren go fetch the battery off the chipper
  18. thats ok, i was thinking of dragging it down to the yard as canteen as i need space in the garden for more toys:thumbup:
  19. i have an old tourer thats taking up room in the garden, its yours for 200quid if your interested? needs a pair of wheels as they fitted my splitter, tows fine as i brought it back from my dads in scotland 3mth ago. i have spent months on end living in caravans on building sites and think that although totally uncool are very useful. Ed.
  20. with the disco you need to switch everything off and fast idle it for 20-30 seconds before turning engine off or it probably won't start in the cold the following day..
  21. found an ancient hand cut bolt with big square head, approx 1 inch diameter and 9 inch long with 70 years growth over the top of it, inside the last cut on a 150yr old dead syccie:thumbup:, customer kept the bolt:thumbdown:
  22. we found that new 'dints' in lawns don't just push out with a fork when the ground is frozen..
  23. we just price them at tree work rates, i don't want to do hedgetrimming so price it so its worth doing, just try to get them trimmed up right, i find its good advertising, as for waste/clippings its all down to the individual job, some sites have 'clipping dumps' and others need every bit removing:001_smile:
