  1. set the alarm for 6am so i didn't miss any of it, missed the alarm and woke at 7am:blushing:, the camera was in the car so i didn't bother taking any pics as they would be misted up, just been out with the camera and scope to the top of the nearest hill, right next to the local observatory and snapped a couple of shots, i just held the camera to the scope
  2. GASIFIER PLANS WOOD GAS HYDROGEN GASIFICATION GENERATOR on eBay (end time 23-Dec-10 06:49:54 GMT) just found this, fun project eh?
  3. that is very interesting, is there a kit available or is it a case of 'here is the science.. off you go'? i have an old landy sat waiting for me to find time to mot it, it has plenty room for tanks/boilers and i could maybe find a bit of wood waste to run it on.
  4. finally run out of beech, pity as you just throw another couple of logs at it in the morning and its off again, started burning fresh ash which is ok when its going but i use a blowtorch to light it every morning:thumbdown:
  5. i must have been a bit harsh with my key turning eh?
  6. i knew there was something going on up there, the moon was mahoosive on the way home from the yard today, i kept thinking how cool it would be to take a photo through the telescope.. then i forgot, might try it in a minute
  7. so am i right in thinking you have a steering related squeal and a red fluid leak that doesn't affect the coolant level? sounds like a powersteering fluid leak to me
  8. come on, its pirouetting bmw's that block the roads round here, and i was trying to swing this into a landy saves the day thread, anyone youtubed 'landy pulls wagon uphill in snow'?
  9. haix protector pros all the way
  10. well obviously if you went in the van it would be a nightmare and dangerous, but if you went in a well shod landrover it would be as simple as a school run in summer:001_smile:
  11. thats how the woman usually parks it:thumbup: at least its not 4ft into the road this time eh? i found the pic online and its from a french film i think:001_smile:
  12. but we have to blame someone now don't we? trees have been falling on people for thousands of years but now it has to be someones fault and we're not happy till someone has been sacked, its clear the snow is caused by the transport minister and he deserves the sack.
  13. smaller ads.. same price:thumbdown: a lot less people are advertising in the book now,
  14. a mate called me last saturday morning for a breakfast on him to catch up, i was starving and got the full monty, then i couldn't move all weekend. couldn't do that before work:eating:
  15. no.. leave it long, then you stay dry when you stick it in a pond to soak your mate at the other side:thumbup: i hate splashback:001_tt2:
  16. you should get a superman outfit:thumbup:

  18. cool castle, we did a job next to a shed once:blushing: how the other half live eh?
  19. no i was just amused by the pic as its a similar colour to mine, i think its a pic taken from a french film, looks scary doesn't it? have a closer look IMCDb.org: 1990 Land-Rover Discovery 200Tdi Series I in "Voyna, 2002" i just looked again and its blue and mine is green oops
  20. it can usually be overhauled, i pay £40 for mine to come back rebuilt and painted, there should be someone who can do it locally for you.
  21. when its this cold metal contracts/shrinks slightly and in your case lets water out, when the metal warms up it expands and the leak disappears, unfortunately i can't tell you which bit of metal it is thats leaking, try shining a torch up from underneath next time it happens to find where it is, it could be something cracked or just a joint that needs tightening or a new gasket. the squeal sounds like your fanbelt needs tightening, hope this helps. Ed.
  22. i'll check what mine is in the morning, its so big it only just fits in the box under the seat and will start world war three if required, im bad for leaving the lights on overnight so a big battery is essential, if you aren't using the motor much then pop a solar panel trickle charger connected to keep it in tip top condition.
  23. hahaha a car was stuck in a drift in blizzard conditions lastyear and the driver asked me to help, i said i would so long as he would agree for me to push him out in the disco,(his 4x4 suzuki swift was sat on a foot of packed drift), it gave me great pleasure to assist and i laughed all the way home at the two disco bumper turret sized dents in his tailgate, he was so happy as he had been there 4hrs:thumbup: guilty? not really, time for another log methinks, this is the tailgate beforehand:001_smile: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QKHSHguQZY]YouTube - holme moss at midnight,[/ame]
  24. there was a lot of ice on this job, a neighbour smashed his 4x4 peoplecarrier into a tree on the driveway, spot the 2 arbtalkers in the last pic:thumbup: ah only 9 phonelines under the tree in pic 1&2
  25. a job we did in the centre of wakefield the other week, we turned up in a blizzard and 3inch fell during the morning, couldn't see the climber all the time:001_smile: nice easy job with ONLY two phonelines:thumbup:
