  1. Yeah I just sent an email to the folks I got my machine off.
  2. I was thinking the same thing, ideally I'd like some kind of skidding winch or capstan, with a butt plate but not sure if it would work or damage arm as you say? Kinda wish I still had my alpine with 3.5t winch on. I might just stick to the petrol capstan and get a bigger machine in when needed
  3. Good evening. I've recently got an Avant 528 and am keen to put a skidding type winch on it. Im not sure about the Avant one as it doesn't look like it has a butt plate. Has anyone got anything different or should I look at fabricating something? Guess I could look at landrover/husky type or was thinking hydraulic capstan as I'm mainly going to be on small stuff and have done loads with our portawinch Cheers
  4. If Rough Hewn doesn't want it I'd be keen
  5. Great week milling! 2 days felling, extracting and milling nice douglas. Over 100cu ft cut then day and half cutting Wellingtonia, over 900 linear meters of cladding. Loving the new loader too

    Aspen pump

Im interested in this too, i asked the question before but didnt get very far. I hate the idea of plastic cans as they are a pain to recycled but love aspen/husky fuel. Ive decanted a barrel into old cans in the past using a barrel tap but its not ideal. I heard you can buy it in 20l cans or at pump in sweden?
  7. Lightweight, no leads, super convenient, quicker than hand tools?, I'm not knocking battery at all, I think it 100% the way to go. Was just making the point (maybe badly) that year ago when I started you could just about get a drill/driver (and people knocked them) and now look at how good some of the kit is
  8. Totally. Battery definately the way for small stuff but petrol for cutting etc. Be intetesting to see what the next few years bring
  9. 25 years ago no-one thought battery drills/tool would be the way forward!
  10. I have a smart pusher for sale, it's handy bit of kit I just don't use it much and trying to rationalise what we have

  12. Good website too-loads of info
  13. Thankyou, much appreciated??
  14. If no-one else is keen I'm happy to travel from Oxford. Always nice to get out of the shire Thanks Kav
  15. ?spot the hole where we had to did out a nail!!
  16. Bit of cedar and yew from earlier in the week, cut a load of funky stuff but was slack on the photos
  17. Yeah, shavehorse(s), clamp the wood with foot while shaping with a drawknife, good old technology still being used today
  18. Im guessing it was probally ment for timber-customer had them. I want a set!! Yes there are rollers on the hooks so chain evens out most of the time and it can be shorten down. Needs a swivel in the top hook ideally but really handy and saves sliding slabs
  19. Thanks, the big oak and cedar was lovely to cut! (and no slabbing?)
  20. Awesome few days milling for 3dWood/Nick Speakman Sculpture. Cut a load of big Oak and Cedar plus a bit of Wellingtonia and some funky sycamore. So glad we had a forklift and also this super handy lifting chains!!
  21. Obvious stuff like tidy kit and unmarked truck, turn up when you say and graft but don't under sell yourself too cheap. Good luck
  22. Guess the trailer is pricey due to limited market etc? I don't know much about bandsaws but when I cut some pine with a mate the cut was wavey as seemed to be pushed about in knots? SAre you cutting different timber?
  23. Nothing wrong with a rant
  24. Nice looking boards and good work trying something different. What about stock piling some wood and getting someone in to mill/resaw it?
