Woodwasps

Cheers folks. I think they are pretty cool. Was going to plank it for a friend but might chuck slabs in the corner of the field and use middle for some rusic benches

Woodwasps

Mornin' Was taking a lump of timber home last night and noticed a wood wasp doing its thing and laying eggs in it (3 times in half an hour-they've got stamina!!). Should i just abandon it it to the corner of the yard and leave it or just slab off sides. Cheers Kav
6. Thanks for all the info. Will definately get some wieght on, i held off on water in the tyres as i trying to balance keeping it lighter for mowing and towing about. I really rate the kilworth but only have used that and a botex. We have 3.5t winch on it to which is super handy on slopes.
7. Nice set up and tidy job. Sorry don't want to derail original tread. Just out of interest what do you think you can lift with crane-We have a similar set up with BCS/kilworth trailer. Just did a nice job on similar size timber (sadly cut to random lengths-not by us ) and was great as we could fit between rows without cutting racks. Only thing Im think is if I should stick some wheel weights on tractor, we have a dry site but a chalky slope to pull some 12' larch out and struggling for grip a bit. Maybe powered trailer next Btw agree that hauling distance def slows things down, I've roaded a couple of loads home locally, but its a bit scary and roads round here are worse than forest tracks
8. Nice find!! This was my job this week. Pulling timber out with little trailer/tractor. Ideal site for it short extraction and could run between rows of trees. Would have been quicker and easier if timber had been cut to lengths/stacked-instead it ranged from 2'to20' !! Ah well be better next time
9.
Sorry I missed your message, I was away, might be a bit far for a bit of timber, Cheers

10.
Hi i might be interested in the western red, where abouts is it cheers

11. Interesting thanks, I hadn't considered it. I think she just like the way it looked and the green stuff smells great! In that case has anyone got any air/kiln dried hardwoods or yew looking for one piece 2500x600 (or narrower and we can joint) and 5 at 1600x200 Cheers Kav
12. Afternoon all. I have a friend who is keen for us to make a desk/shelf out of some western red cedar. (after seeing a bench i made). Ideally they want it soon, so was wondering if anyone had any air dried? Ideally 40-50mm. I have some I could mill but need to get a kiln sorted. Cheers Kav
13. Is its so critical if its going in a kiln or is it the fact the saps up the issue cheers

18. Husky 550, 8 tooth sprocket, 13" bar and a decent osteopath works for me Buts as said before chain needs to be in good nick. I found its tidier cuts with pulling chain rather that top of bar but can 'sweep'over whole stool using both-if that makes any sense!!
19. Electric winches are pretty slow but would work. Might be worth hiring in someone with small tractor and skidding winch(ours would get through a 4' gap and has 90m of cable to fish out timber) Where abouts are you based?
20. Like the skidsteer mounted grinder:thumbup1:
21. Fridays, finishing of pulling firewood out of thinning/tree safety job
22. Evening I need to get my crane on compact forwarding trailer Loler'd. Does anyone have any contacts please. Cheers
23. My ol man has a 4 work one. Its ok. He had trouble with the throttle-magnets come loose-nothing a bit of youtube and glue didnt fix
24. This is our tdci. It was wrapped in white but wasnt great. It was ment to be more orange but the wrap took the lacquer off and it went a bit red when it was blown over! only down side is people asking if it was a fire engine!!!
