  1. Thanks. I have a mini with quite a few attachments so I'm covered on that front. It is the loading runs back and forth to a trailer etc that I am looking to improve. The kangas are relatively cheap compared to the competition and more available second hand. I feel they maybe cheaper for a reason though. Their lift capacity seems to be well behind their peers.
  2. I was talking to someone about this last week. Something that escaped me was the right terminology for the stem being allowed room to sway - I am sure I knew of a technical term for it but can't remember! I may have imagined it. One of my pet hates is a wooden cross bar with the stem rigidly strapped. In some high traffic settings I suppose its necessary but trees really benefit from some stem movement.
  3. Bit of a thread revival - anyone had any experience of the larger kanga machines for arb/landscaping work?
  4. 'Deadline' passed - assume it'll be a post election announcement now. Be interesting to see what they come out with.
  5. Nice bit of DIY engineering. You could mount that in the back of a single cab pickup and get to most locations.
  6. Terrible. I was conversing with him about skidsteer loaders a week or so back. Sad news.
  7. Worth checking with Ifor. I had inadvertently bought a stolen ifor via ebay a few years ago via ebay. I checked out the owner best I could and spoke to the guy he bought it off. The trailer had been stolen from a dealer in Wales 14 years before! It had been through 6 owners since then according to the police. Second hand, cheap trailers are always going to be a bit risky from this perspective in.my opinion.

You pray they didn't actually take that on yhe public highway and it's just around site.
  9. Indeed! The weight distribution would appear to be way out. Looks like he got away with it though damage wise. When I was a passenger in a 'snake' we were pulled onto a gravel/soft verge and flipped. Now that was a brown pants moment!
  10. I believe France as well. King cab or single cab only.
  11. What's your day rate? Looks like a handy set up.
  12. Ha! Get them whole you can. I am sure double cab pickups will be clamped down before too long. Hard to justify VAT reclaim/tax write off on essentially a luxury 4wd.
  13. It's might as well have tax dodge written on the side! I'll be amazed if I ever see one with a tow bar.
  14. Has water got into the 7/13 pin plugs? I had this and the electrics were doing all sorts.
  15. Marine ply will look good to start with but I really doubt it would last. My advise is spend the extra now and it will be cheaper in the long run.
  16. I've heard these referred to as 'wrist breakers'......
  17. That makes sense that it's a kit. As I mention the alloy has got to cost about that. Sounds like a good buy. It'll be a lot of riveting but could be a good option. Ally planking looks the business in my opinion.
  18. My four aluminium dropside come in at 56kg in total. This is 3.2m long and 40cm height each. Significantly heavier that a steel sheet I'd expect. It is pretty sturdy though. I have a couple of steel box sections running across the top.
  19. Sounds like a good deal - Too good to be fair. The ally would cost that. I'd expect you would weld two bars onto the rear columns and then just bolt or monobolt rivet it to the rest. Depends on if you want to have it removable.
  20. With your set up Steve, would it be worth switching into a swb 6.5t - 7.5t vehicle? Iveco 65c dropside for example. I've seen a few with auto and cruise control - would be a relatively comfy way to transport 3t on long journeys.
  21. You may find the mwb body length is different between the double cab and single cab. In my experience the double can is 2.8 long and single 3.2. I have pretty much the same van (but with ally sides). I build this using ally planks from service metals and just bolted it on. Cost me £400. It can be done cheaper but sprayed white in my case they look professional and are only a 5 minute job to put on or off.
  22. With respect to them (and it would be great if it wasn't the case) but leaving any equipment in vans overnight is risky. On a public road is really risky. Skeleton key or not you'd be rolling the dice every night as to whether you survive a break in. Locked garage with shielded, battery back up alarms all the way.
  23. What i dislike is long term consultants. For a project of up to 6 months or so when you need certain skills then get a 'consultant' but there are loads of examples of consultant being there for 5 years or more. Even worse they are ex members of staff!
  24. I do a lot of stem injection and the recommendation is neat normally. Highly effective though. I've hit 1000 stems in an area and not seen it return in the following 5 years. Its a sh*t job though, crawling around in a JK jungle for days at a time.
  25. I hate single stake plantings. To save £2....
