  9. not sure on arizonica but it does with glabra.
  10. is the chain sharp? a blunt chain will heat up and slacken. sorry if that sounds a little patronising.
  11. #1 possibly a coastal red wood #2 a cypress but torn between what one (hinoki, monterey, smooth arizona????)
  12. as others have said, a mixture of both is probably ideal but mostly the practical experiance. however only if the quality of the experiance is good ie working with a good and knowledgable crew and varied work.
  13. the thread title pretty much sums up the response i usually give. sure they are just following the orders of the big chiefs but it does get right on my nerves, especially when its every time you deal with them. and they make it sound like they are doing you a favour. next time do it mick, give her your card. then tell her youll double the price and take 25 % off because shes a preffered customer.
  14. left to right: jay smith, ross smith, mick stockbridge, rich rule, toby sims (swoosh), nick waring, stu (scm), beezy, rob, frankie laurence, mark bolam, and me.
  15. a cracking day out, cheers for the venue mark. good to see some new faces turn out.
  16. i like that, thats really smart. nice one.
  17. pictures would help if you have any, has it got any signs of black spores under the bark resembling soot?
  18. a genuine question and in no way meaning to rain on your parade (i admire the pioneering thought behind the idea).... if a tree is deemed so unsafe and unstable that it would require lightening, then surely it would be unsafe to leave it in situe for any period of time to allow it to lose the weight? i hope this is taken as food for thought and not as criticism.
  19. nice one. if and when i do it i will be raising for charity.
  20. woke up with a bit of a sore leg so thought i'd give it a miss:sneaky2:
  21. it was '89 down here, but then you northerners are a few years behind us:sneaky2:
  22. nice one , looks a good crack. one of the nurses who looked after me in hospital got me to look it up as she was going to do it. i kind of made a deal that when i was fit enough to do it i would do one with her.... not sure what ive let my self in for, hopefully she'll have forgotten by then! did you do it for charity or punishment?
  23. oh..... all this time i thought the bag went at the bottom, you know like a funnel.... ooops!
  24. i certainly will frankie, it takes more than a little graze to stop me. though i'll be watching this one from the ground. see you there.
