  1. Oh dear Oh dear Oh dear ... if you think that is viable I am out of this thread now
  2. I do understand where you are coming from Keith and personally I think that £100 is a fair price for a delivered cube of seasoned quality hardwood and I do sell other options at considerably less. It just bugs me a little when people say `I get my logs for free` when what they really mean is `I have a few bits of tree which after alot of work and time will become firewood`
  3. Ditto but did not want to appear slow
  4. And what would you charge your time at as a business?
  5. I did read the post and you will note I said `even` if the wood was free. A stove company close to me is selling at £160 a cube. I was merely making the point that you referred to your wood as being free and the cost of the wood is only a small part of the total costs involved in retailing the product.
  6. Even if the wood were to come in free the costs are in the machinery needed to process it, the tractor needed to run the processor ( I have just paid £1265 to have mine serviced ), the storage vessels, the machinery needed to lift the storage vessels, the land to store it on, the truck to deliver it in, the barn to store it in etc etc..... GET AWAY FROM THIS MIND CONCEPT THAT WOOD SHOULD BE FREE.... to do it properly is expensive and hard work.
  7. Watch out for those hidden extras
  8. and he came across as a motivated individual
  9. I think that just about concludes this thread.... Firewood will drive you to drink:001_smile:
  10. But is one cord wood and the other arb arisings.
  11. I wouldnt hurt a fly, tread on an ant nor say boo to a goose
  12. I did regret that comment after posting it I was being flippant .. just growl at them and be a very scary person, of course this is after you have tried politeness and sensible reasoning
  13. Vented bags off the ground on pallets would be good.
  14. How do you store/stack your logs in the barn Jon?
  15. I was just about to say the same thing .. nonetheless 200% is a very healthy mark up.
  16. Jon go into a proper cycle shop or look on net for last years model. Just like cars they make changes each year to the models so you have the 09 model 10 model etc. and you can get massive savings by buying last years model. I bought a Scott f1 and got a cracking deal.
  17. If you insist on premium firewood you pay premium price and if you accept lesser woods you pay budget price .... bit of a silly comment really.
  18. Oh and yes Jon it does .. it feels quicker than the M3 and XK8 once you put your foot down at 70
  19. Thanks for the pm Jon very interesting. I have been quoted £1600 separately and £1900 together ... and I know that doesnt make sense
  20. No its just the two ( car and truck ) ... mind you there is the tractor.
