  6. on the buddleia today
  7. thank you for your replies, I guess the lower brace allows some unhindered growth on the inside of the 2 trunks, I will get to the tree and more closely inspect, I suppose the 2 braces that completely encircle the stems are more of a threat, the fork that the braces target I consider not to be that bad!
  8. haven't noticed any but cable at the time was 'old and tired' I've also used this for the larger 20+mm cable
  9. the att. pics although not to detailed show size of problem, foliage on limbs with bracing is smaller and greyish in colour compared with healthy dark green and larger in size on non affected ones, owner of the tree is wanting to keep the tree, my thoughts are that if left as is it the tree may fail at the point of bracing, although it may be possible to relieve the tension from some of the old bracing by cutting it will mean cutting into wound/reaction growth to effect what I would consider to be an acceptable amount of relief or release, any past experience, guidance or discussion gratefully accepted, thank you Arbtalkers
  10. from memory this is what appeared, fortunately discovered with metal detector & extracted b4 blade found it! posted this before, the catch was incorporated into the green oak build of workshop and garage

  21. 2 on ground and 3 more from standing timber, now condemned!
  22. island is almost tree less due to sheep in the past, most wood is sourced from private gardens as the turners is known throughout the island they give him a call and he removes trees free of charge, I think most of the wood in the drying room and workshop was southern beech northofagus but not sure which one though, view over water is one that can be seen from workshop window! nice
