  1. Super!
  2. I wouldn't worry to much about your age. If you like hard work and you have loads of energy then you'll be fine. There will always be someone that'll say you are to old but really they are just saying that they wouldn't or couldn't hack it at your age - everyone's different. I've worked with plenty of 25 year olds on the past who couldn't keep up for the life of them, doesn't mean they all can't.... Try and get a few days with someone, you'll soon see... Best of luck and welcome to the best place you could have come - this forum:thumbup:
  3. Cheers bud:thumbup1: Shame I didn't get to say hi to you but you looked like a super busy bee, well done - hope you did real well:001_smile:
  4. I got in for free with a free ticket from a friend who had been on the Uni mog stand for a couple of days. I didn't see any of the free t-shirts people are talking about though, where were they?? Would have loved a tree related t-shirt for work...........and for best:biggrin:
  5. Really, I couldn't see how they would fit but I could when i looked at your website and looked at the chipper ear defenders which are £18 instead of the ones I got which were £17. I was going to give you a ring tomorrow to see if i could change them but I'll wait a few days until I get back to sheffield and have another go at fitting them. If I can't I'll take them to work on Thursday so Old Snake can have a look, he'll be able to sort it I'm sure:001_smile:
  6. Turns out they don't, doh!
  7. Do MSA Sordin ear defenders fit on a Petzl vertex vent helmit? Also how does your visor fit back on? Ta muchly
  8. Went there skint, got a free ticket to get in, sold a couple of rings and came home with a sugoi and some ear defenders, cracking day:001_smile:
  9. That looks amazing - must be one hell of a buzz!!
  10. I've already had a word with Nigel off here about that but never heard anything back. Came up with a grand idea for it with drawings, shame really!
  11. Happy Birthday, hope you got a new whacking stick...whack whack whackety whack.....
  12. It made my hands sweat watching that!!
  13. I don't have a lathe, and I also need the grain to run the lenth of the wood so it keeps its strenth.
  14. Now there's an idea, good thinking, I'll give that a go tomorrow when I get home. It's mainly exotic woods from a turning shop, Zebra wood, Snake skin, Ebony of different kinds, olive wood, purple heart, loads of others I can't remember the names of.
  15. I was wondering about using a real good plane to get 1mm shavings, and they would come off curled up already wouldn't they? Do you think that would work on dried wood Ian?
  16. I steam the veneer I buy so I can get tight bends with it, but with the bandsaw thin bits it just snap. They are a bit thinker though. I have some real nice blanks of purple heart and other exotic ones i'd like to use. The veneer i buy of those types of wood have quite a wide grain, so on a ring there's not much detail.
  17. Yes I do need it thin, about a mm, it has more flex in it then and it's for making my rings. I tried cutting some on my bandsaw but it seems to be really brittle so you can't bend it at all. I wonder if there will be anyone at the APF doing it?
  18. Really! I just want some small bits of wood veneered up, I find they have better grain.
  19. Does anyone know how veneer wood is cut? Is it possible to buy a machine that'll do it from home, or is there places you can take your own wood to to have them do it?
  20. Darn...my cover's been blown:001_smile:
  21. No worries bud:001_smile: Done a fair bit of building work in the past so would defo be able to keep you going with mixing and stacking blocks, quite enjoy it:biggrin:
  22. If you need a hand helping you with anything just let me know, I'm only in Sheffield so not to far away:001_smile:
  23. tee hee, made me spit my coffee when I finally got that, good one:lol:
  24. For the sides I use long reach trimmer, and for the top i climb up the middle and work my way along - if it's possible
