  1. Good work chap, I'm sure everything will be smashing for you👍
  2. I'm a tad lost now, do you still work for Chris? Did you get the job you were interviewed for?
  3. Sorry I meant that the tree looked as if it had a slight lean and that you were in the underside of it? Just asking bra cause I had one with a slight lean the other day and I was trying to keep on the top side, but was thinking it'd probably have been easier on the underside.
  4. Were you on the underside of the lean?
  5. I'd maybe be tempted to anchor in the tree to the side.
  6. Just had a word with Hadders, just to confirm Drew, is the splice totally standard - no changes in taper or bury(whatever that means)?
  7. Well said! H&S don't like us using drt, so we'll have to get then drunk to let us use srt.
  8. That was quick!! Very good 👍
  9. Have you a pic of it spliced drew?
  10. Fheww that was close!! Cheers silky, I'll get in contact with him, he's a jolly good splicer👍
  11. I'd say it'd still smart a tad landing, no matter how big your anchor was. Not really a reason for it not being accepted in tree work?
  12. I was on a training course a little while ago and although the instructor was well up for srt for access, he was against for WP. When I asked why, he said cos if you hit your hitch in srt you will free fall a lot quicker than in drt!? There was also mention that you are only tied in once with srt? I will add though that he was a really nice chap and a very good teacher, the only thing he didn't seem to know much about was srt, the rest of the course was splendid!
  13. Is old snake still on here?
  14. Still not found out which splice it is drew, any idea?
  15. Hiya Just a quick one, when you insure your tipper, do you do it for haulage or for carrying your own stuff? There was a £500 difference between the two for me!
  16. Since I've got my saw back after it was found not to have any oiling fault it does seem to be oiling better. I was told that if it keeps plating up they'll have to send it to stihl and if they can't find a problem it'll cost me £40 and hour for their time! With that in mind I priced up a new oiler myself and it's only £19+VAT, if it does play up I'll just fit my own! The reason I was waiting to drill the exhaust was the oiler trouble, so yesterday I thought sod it and banged a 7mm hole (didn't have an 8mm) in the advised place. WOW, what a difference, it's like a totally different saw! It starts better, runs loads better and the added bonus is that it really does seem to be kicking loads of oil out now! I wonder if the faster chain speed and the fact the chips are flying out now has improved it? Will see how it is on my next job but just cutting logs in the garden it seems sound 😃
  17. Is the new update coming out for the iPhone soon?
  18. I don't think it's too bad with the elastic as well. A friend has his backed up and has a bungee strop on it and it keeps on pulling out, mines been fine. I also find that not being that tall, by the time the ring on a bungee's clipped up, the saws banging round my knees instead of being on the hip 😀
  19. No worries Marc. Yes I tried your way after reading it first a while ago but found it too baggy! Get some good strong elastic like a thin bungee and it'll keep it nice and neat for you 😀
  20. Mine are half a size down from normal and fit perfect, although to tight to double sock so got thin thermal ones for winter. They are a cold boot but so long as you run round a bit at the start of the day they're fine.
  21. It's hard to see here because most of the bulbs have gone in my house, haha! It's a strong bit of elastic that's tied round the front handle and then tied round the clip and karabiner. It stays nice a tight to the body so it doesn't get snagged, and also make the krab stick out the back so it's easy to put the saw on the carrytool one handed.
  22. I'm not home at the mo but I'll take a pic when I get back 😀
  23. Just got mine back from the shop because they say there isn't anything wrong. Seemed to oil fine in there but once I cut into a log at home it looks like it's stopped again. They said to keep an eye on it and then bring it back if it's the same so will see what happens on the job tomorrow. I will try the different filter too, see if that helps. If none of that works and an oiler's cheap, I think I'll just fit my own, save being without the saw for weeks.
  24. It does make me wonder if it's the filter in the oil tank being too fine! When I put a drop of petrol in there it came out as you'd think it should, but as soon as I put oil back in it slows down to virtually nothing. May be worth trying a 200t filter!
