  1. I think it happened because she didn't pay Ryanair's surcharge to not sit next to an unpleasant, ignorant bastard.
  2. All the more reason to not accept less than the £450. If it goes as far as small claims, the OP can claim for expenses to cover the hassle. The only experience the OP would gain by giving in is in how to roll over.
  3. Unless they will give evidence, it's just hearsay unfortunately.
  4. I thought I had made that pretty clear. Of the 2 options, being proved wrong and having to pay up would be far more disagreeable to such a person than a momentary insult. Before I started doing tree work, I worked in the casino industry for nearly 20 years and frequently met people like this customer. Nothing hurts them more than having to accept that the person they view as a pleb was right and they were wrong. That they would have to pay up the original bill and some extra for expenses would be the icing on the cake.
  5. Do you honestly think telling him to stick it up his arse is going to hurt him more than getting him to pay the full amount of what he owes? Like I said in a previous post, insulting him wouldn't even register as he laughed about having somebody over.
  6. Have to disagree with you on this one, Mick. That quote is the thing that's not worth the paper.
  7. You have enough correspondence to show that there was a contract so the only question is how much for what you did. If you have emails to the effect that he is not paying what you have asked then he is trying to vary the terms of the contract after you have performed your part of the deal which he cannot do. He failed to negotiate your fee before you did the work which is his problem, not yours. Your fee is reasonable for what you did, and reasonable is the word of importance in UK law. It will be for him to defend himself against your action and it will come down to whose story the court likes most.
  8. Some things are. This isn't. The customer is a dick who is chancing his arm. Do you honestly think he is going to give a tuppenny shite about what somebody says to him? Water off a duck's back would be my call.
  9. Ignore his email, put your invoice in with the deadline for payment and stick to it. If he doesn't pay up in time, second invoice with 14 days to pay or action through small claims court. Don't descend into negotiation. He agreed the price which doesn't sound unreasonable to me.
  10. I'm Maldon and a bit busy at moment but thanks for the thought, Eggs. ? The OP could try Crown Trees near Ongar, Premier Trees in the same area, Neil Carter in Brentwood or Ingatestone Trees in Ingatestone.
  11. My Dad was an evacuee in Salcombe during WW2 and remembered seeing fishing boats coming up the creek that were flying the Tricolore. He used to be out at odd times with the lovely family who took him in, hunting rabbits and the like. It wasn't until a few years ago that we found out that the fishing boats were part of SOE.
  12. The SAS and SOE also had an unofficial hunting team when the war in Europe finished and the SAS had officially been disbanded there. They were looking for those responsible for the deaths of agents and the murders under Hitler's infamous Commando order of SAS personnel. Google a guy called Prince Yurka Galitzine for an interesting subject. You can do the same for Major Bill Barkworth, SAS, and Vera Atkins who worked in the French section of SOE. Vera was particularly interested in the disappearance of 4 female SOE operatives, including Noor Inayat Khan, at Struthof Natzweiler. They had some interesting techniques, including the use of a Ouija board.
  13. Couldn't agree more, on both counts. IIRC, he's a UK citizen so where would he be deported to? I would be interested to know why he was released, albeit to a bail hostel, after serving less than half of his sentence.
  14. Looks more like a vodka Red Bull.
  15. Neither was this creature. It seems Mr Choudhary was more 'westernised' in his younger days.
  16. A gate?
  17. Whatever the calibre, from .177 to .25, if you're accurate with a rifle near the 12ft/lb limit then you will kill a squirrel at a sensible range.
  18. There are lots of responsible air gun hunters who are looking for permissions. You should have no problem finding somebody suitable to solve your problem. I would suggest a member of either BASA or BASC. You could try looking on AirGunForum but obviously choose carefully.
  19. It's nothing compared to Berberis bollocks.
  20. Is that not Blackthorn?
  21. We're already part way there.
  22. You were the one who put me on to them, mate.
  23. Always worth using a hay fork on jobs like that.
  24. Try Ripeur 2 gloves, about £20 ish. I have only ever had one thorn come through and that was when they were soaking wet. Absolutely brilliant gloves.
  25. I thought you only got them in Thailand?
