  1. Hp 370 with hyd. controls . Can achieve 3m3 comfortably per hour with straight softwood cord working solo. Imho the optimal timber is 6 to 10 " diameter for this machine. If your cord is @ the 12" diameters i would go for the hp 420 or bigger machine. Don't overlook the importance of a logdeck. Get the biggest one you can, or build one. A lot of man 2's time will be taken up feeding the deck so if you can get a lot on in one go it frees up time to handle the output or dig out chip http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  2. A thing of beauty. The haulage element of firewood production is rising steeply at present so being able to collect cord yourself is a smart move. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  3. No doubt he will get what he is paid for. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  4. Great find. I have a dim memory of seeing this film before on "out of town" the series with jack hargreaves. Skills like that must have been common place back in the day. What wood do you think he is working? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  5. Yeah...i know the truck will struggle when empty. I'm thinking that at least I can get to the customer even if I cant get home! I want to sell my tipping trailer that I have been using with the land cruiser when snow is really bad so hoping a set of chains will enable me to stay in the transit. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  6. Anyone used snow chains on transit tipper? Were they any good? Makes to go for? Suppliers? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  7. What I find intensely irritating is the fact that cord prices are being driven up by biomass outfits in receipt of massive subsidy from you and me via our taxes and power bills. I supply green energy....where is my subsidy? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  8. Gensteve....yes found sliver jammed under blade touching ram at full travel. Also wear in the bolt mentioned above. Problem solved. Thanks all. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  9. Yes area is clear of chip and I have given the gubbins a blow out with the airline. Will checkout steve's thread. Thanks all. http://www.kinnogirwoodfuel.co.uk
  10. My hakki has developed a problem with the splitting ram. It keeps cycling in and out and will not come to rest between cuts. Anyone else had this problem? Whereabouts in the mechanism should I be looking for the problem? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  11. Rob What stone sizes are available? Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk
  12. I won this board in the raffle. we use it all the time and i can, after 8 months use, confirm that we are still alive:thumbup1: excellent tommer. thanks.
  13. is the directory still under maintenance? i would like to edit some details. (sorry to hassle)
  14. my 2p worth... as steve says above go for the biggest capacity processor that you can. I have a Hakki 370 and now really wish i'd gone for the 420. to get the most out of the machine you must have a log deck to feed it and a machine to load the deck. without these, productivity will be little better than using a chainsaw and a vertical splitter. with the deck and loader it is possible for one man to process up to 20m3 in a day if the feedstock is reasonably straight and clean.
  15. I am now the (skint) owner of a kindlett. massive orders for kindling now being taken at rock bottom prices:laugh1: thanks for all the comments.
  16. thanks steve. will he kindlett take a gravity fed infeed tray?
  17. what is the best kindling machine for round wood (not joinery waste). anyone had any experience with the BGU or posch machines? or is Fuelwood the only machine worth considering.
  18. cant believe they have not had any bids yet
  19. not a bad price for 6m3. though how you would carry that on a tranny in one go beats me. northampton area. Seasoned Hardwood logs Firewood Tree Surgery forestry | eBay
  20. as title. if anyone needs 3m3 of cut , split , seasoned birch delivered to london or south east tomorrow I can do it for £200 cash or cheque. can also deliver the load anywhere along the A1 need to know before 4pm today call me on 07733 545 795 Gareth
  21. many moons ago when i was responsible for data archiving at a graphics company we did the following: 1 paper copy.....print em out! 2 digital copy placed on a dvd 3 digital copy held on a back up drive 4 digital copy retained for instant access on the server. we generated approx 800,000 unique images per year so it was quite a task! i know the horse has already bolted but initiate a back up system and stick to it. Also always check you can read the back ups and keep them at separate locations if possible. with regards to your now defunct hard disk, do not despair. as other have said, there are professional recovery firms who can get it all back for you , allbeit at a price.
  22. how many m3 in your "load"? any pics of the truck with the cages?
  23. what you omit to mention is security of supply. last winter, with at least two feet of snow on the deck, I had many customers who couldn't get coal, oil or gas deliveries for between 6 to 8 weeks. I supplied them all within 24 hrs of receiving their orders. If i had not supplied them there are at least 6 competitors within 5 miles who would have served them. So, oil and gas may be more convenient but wood is ubiquitous and supplied very competitively in an open and free market. you cannot say that about the alternatives. with regard to m3 prices, £120 m3 is a distant dream in NE scotland. softwood (very popular up here) is freely available at £40m3, hardwood at £60 to £70m3. both prices are for delivered wood.
  24. I put michelin agilis tyres on mine (around £125 each inc vat and fitting) was sceptical that they would make that much difference but they do work a treat especially on snow and ice. Also no noticeable drop in mpg.
