  1. Gutted. Fully booked now im afraid, however Keely has been very encouraged by the demand, and as such was wondering how many more people would have liked to sat in on the course. I think that they are keen to get fedback from us as to how best to work this type of educational opportunity. I think the main concern with having too many people online at once, was the amount of questions that may get asked, and how feasible it is that all questions will be answered. I have mentioned to Keely that I am nudging this thread in here, and she is going to keep an eye on it to assess demand, soo! if you are interested in a possible re-run, add your thoughts here. 2. Been with gf for 15 years, ran business for 14 years, she made me pack lunch once, was sooo nice. but she soon stopped that when she knew I likey... I had a full english once, never again thank god. shes been a house wife for 8years, and unless the kids eat at home and dont go to mcdonalds or bk, i get fed, what they are eating. If you saw the size of me you'd say im a liar, I got a right gunt on me. I blame that greg bloke. "Get your self some dinner on the way home tonight, im going out and the kids went mcdonalds," proper gets my back up. Its a bit like when a man asks, "do you have your period love" I reckon she only does it so we argue and she can go make lurve to the local doorman, at the end of the night. Lorry, who was it who had thrush cream, i may need it tomorrow morning, pmsl.
  3. The news I saw over the weeekend had norway first, and then 'now for the rest of the weekends news' She was a good singer, probably a good laugh to be around, as probably were most of the people in norway, and the soldiers we support. I personally think that due to the described nature of norwegian people, they will probably not want the global media intrusion. One thing that became apparent from my observation and from listening to the norwegian people is that they do not do the whole media hype thing, the british media kind of gloat at tradegy, or maybe a proportion of the whole facebook generation/society thrive on doom and the media either fed or feed it. So the norway thing because of the manner in which the people do not air their dirty laundry in public, will quickly lose media attention, as it will not be gory enough in its content, and witness statements etc. As for death of soldiers, then that opens up a can of worms, by the apparent cover ups that have taken place by governments throughout the world, and an apparent exposure of involvement of key figures in the news international saga, to what extent are papers governed by the govt, and so as to not stir up the public discontent of war, are the papers on a proof read type system. Heres a question, we all think we get to make choices, but is it the items/options set by government that truly depict our choices, do they make our decisions by deciding what we see, hear, buy etc. (thread in itself me thinks) Someone said to me that american people; not so much now because of the internet, were guarded and protected from the real world by there media, to an alarming level of protection. The media is a woodchipper, its as productive or destructive based on how and who feeds it. lol. Either way some bloke just lost his daughter, hundreds have lost their children, and a child has just lost the chance of seeing their dad. when you look at it like that how can you begin to put it into realms of importance. I personally would not wish to put them in order of importance, if I was stood in fromnt of the grieving family and friends.
  4. Soory this was a derail and was in relation to subsidence not power lines. But the reason they are doing it is to try and combat the new requirements by some power companies to not cut trees soo heavily, but at the same time keep costs down, and maintain theclearance. I cant remember which way round it was, whether the power co.s wanted more or less off, and something about application to control re-growth, to reduce the tendency for cutters to keep returning annually if less is taken off.
  5. Maybe as govt begins to implement change to support urban forestry, the laws and get outs adopted by some people will be removed from the system, and builders will have to up there compliance more so, 'should it be the case that they do not at present'
  6. See this is the thing, I appreciate that academics know their stuff, but until you have climbed/cut trees throughout the varying seasons, it must be the case that a more lateral thought process is enabled as we progress into the latter period, or next stage of our careers/lives, only by cutting for the last however many years can we substantiate such comments, Do you know what i mean
  7. If a property is underpinned correctly then the tree need not be removed, Im lead to beleive. so there shouldnt be the need for repeat pruning, if the tree is found to be non-contributory to the initial subsidence, i guess it all enables the practising con to have more tools at their disposal. sectorThis is in relation to the whole it could be the tree mentality that may be prevalent in that
  8. So am I right in thinking that we all cut in a copmpletly controlled manner alll the time and enable ourselves to lower the chainsaw whilst still ensuring that the branch /top has not yet detached, and then proceed to guide the tree through its gravitational process... Or does the flick result in a little one handed saw control, I personally do it to stop the tips hitting the ground first and bouncing back through the fence, Im also finding this year for some bizarre reason that timber is holding on longer than it feels than in previous years, even with side spurs/cuts in it to reduce hinge tare on traditional tearing timbers
  9. Hama, is ti 30g in 1l or 5l. i thought was 5l
  10. Oh i dont do it gaff i replace my machines every year boss, so it isnt me that does it, anyway, i dont even do tree work, im a candlestick maker by trade

  13. Is the use of a bungee strap to 'reduce' the propensity of the throttle to ride up, a breech of H and S, it doesnt restrict the operator from turning it off but it does hold it in place. Is this a simple answer or a grey area hehe
  14. evening Mr. thompson, do you fill your chipper up at the end of every day, regardless of how tired you are, if so then do not read on, however, if you dont you laxy bxxxxxd, then you have got water/air built up in the system, drain tank etc;not nice job if you aint am mechynick, or you may just have a air block, crank open the breather nut, then turn the key till diesel dribbles out, then tighten up, then do the same for all the injectors, Mines a 30dh, 1995, so it may have moved on since then, diff practice maybe,
  15. In a conversation, with the man carrying out the research, I asked him if it will be on the agenda to assess the use of growth retardents, to further mitigate the effects of heavy pruning work as a means of subsidence mitigation. As it is now considered that with a 70-90-% canopy cover reduction, the reduction of water uptake by the tree will only be mitigated for the next years annual growth, at which point the tree will begin to photosynthesise at an increased rate of growth as we all know. But with growth retardents applied it may enable the practitioner to further survey the property after the pruning, before the final decision of felling; A significantly poor aesthetical tree, is taken. Although this may lead to conflicting data from any building monitoring, it may still enable a tree to be retained. If we look at the fact though, that trees continue to function and provide the benefits they can, regardless of the aesthetic value it may, may not contribute, then to what extent does a trees nice crown shape actually offer to the eco-system service benefits, and does the fact that a tree has been severly pruned matter if it still provides a contribution to the urban ecology. A trees ability to contribute to the environment should not be dismissed, just because its been hacked about, and if the hacking about can be kept to a controlled rate of re-growth then it shouldnt be dismissed until we kow the results of any research. I believe it may be the thinking that the application of pbz, will reduce the branch growth as opposed to the actual production of phtosynthetic material, which may enable the tree to still provide energy resources, thus enabling the tree to continue functioning as close to 'normal' as possible, and sustain tree health. Im sure that we will hear of its pros and cons soon.
  16. utilities are looking at the potential benefits of pbz, pacrobutizol, growth retardent, but its very early days, many loop holes to go through. Hama if i remember correctly, jonathon cocking has been running a similiar injection system for cameraria and pseudomonas up north somewhere, havnt got his details to hand
  17. KJ Thulborn motorway contractors chip into dust carts, they must take away for biomass, looks a right tidy setup out on the road.
