Please do contribute to this to assist us in making this come to fruition, we need your feedback, this may help your next college leaver quickly become up to speed with onsite communication. 2. 2 metre blocks up the tree all the time, there will be jobs where you need absolute accuracy, but thats quite a particular aspect, and for crown spreads, get your legs out, dbh, whack a tape around it, 3 and half minutes per tree. lol. Infact tech cert you do it in 1and half minutes.
  3. I did one of these about 8years ago, i think we got a free lunch, if you dont think about the cost of the course lol The course does change you, although to be fair,I had just watched the birth of my first child around that time, i thnk that makes you grow up, and think about what a c**k a car can turn you into.
  4. I have been asked by an AA member if I know of any oaks showing symptoms of AOD in the Hertfordshire area. Unfortunately I am not aware of any in that area but thought that maybe someone in here could offer some local knowledge. If you know of any oak tree with suspected AOD in that area that you think may be of interest to this member then could you please leave some details in this thread or pm me. Preferably accessible for c.20 people within 20 mins from de vere venues at Theobalds park, cheshunt, Hertfordshire. Gratis:thumbup:
  5. In the words of jay from the inbetweeners, I think it would be 'the clunge thread'' Mods, hope thats not to rude, apologies..
  6. Safe eyes are good, Just make sure that when you order, you get the newer type, the rubber is softer and doesnt dig into your forehead as much, last forever, if you dont lose them, lol
  7. Dear Ecotreecare, My name is jaime bray, I volunteer for the Arboricultural Associations AWG (Arborists Working Group) This matter has been in the pipeline for a couple of months now, and as such we endeavour to have a set of terms and conditions; that may help to guide companies in producing their own terms and conditions, or adopt the ones produced. It is unlikely that they will be checked by a solicitor, but a lot of hard work is currently going into researching the integrity of the t's and c's that will be produced, As with most things voluntary, it will take a little longer, but we are very close to having them completed, for public viewing and use. If anybody has any t's and c's that they feel may add a little something special, and they do not mind having them used by fellow arborists, then please feel free to email them to me at [email protected] and I shall ensure that they get to the relevant persons of the group carrying out this task. Mine have a few personal niche experiences covered in them that assist in those sticky weird situs. Mine have been submitted, so im not after a freebie.(sceptics) lol. Regards, Jaime Bray
  8. Paper cut that is!!!! I was just putting up some bunting for bday party, and pricked myself with a drawing pin, I suggest you man up kid. Id be well annoyed with myself for that occurance of events. Hope all goes well in theatre, This time next year it will all be ''Its behind you!!!'' Steven Blair hurt his finger audience..... Ahhhhhhhhh! Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Hey thats a thought we may be able to catch up on post count now if you can only type one handed.... you would probably still beat some of us up a tree though lol.
  9. Tony thanks for your time and assistance. Just a bump fellas, not sure if there are many opinionated people in arbtalk, but this is a very good opportunity to have your say and raise any gripes that you may have about the approved contractor scheme. Send it annonymously if you wish,:sneaky2: This task has been set with the intention of making significant increases in the uptake of the scheme, Im guessing that until they know what the industry thinks of the ArbAc scheme they can not begin to make it the household name that im thinking we would all like it to be. Have your say and fill in the form in the first post, then follow hamadryads instructions to get it heard and read by the AA's decision makers. Thanks again, Jaime

  11. Thanks for the feedback steve, was just trying to make it as easy as poss for would be filler inners, Thanks again to those that have taken the time to complete the questionaire. This sort of research is important as it gives the AA scope with how they provide the right products and service to us, Thanks to all.
  12. Thanks for raising this fault slackmagirdle, There should be an email address entailed within the questionaire, [email protected]. Although I have not made that part/process clear, Sorry. If its not to much bother could anybody who has filled it in send to this email address, im unaware of how to set up the thread so as to retrieve the info without you having to mess about emailing, Sorry folks. Big thanks to all those that have already completed. It should just be a word document so I hope that it is easily downloadable, If not, send me an email to [email protected] and ill attach it to a reply, Many thanks for your feedback. Jaime
  13. Dear Arbtalk, The AWG (Arborists Working Group) has recently been asked to carry out some market research regarding the industries awareness of the Arboricultural Association. This questionaire was produced and was used by the AWG'ers to carry out market research to random companies in our areas. This type of research is very much appreciated by the AA, and as such previous work we have undertaken has begun to influence the AA's strategy and how they begin to serve our industry, I know that you are all busy people, but could I just personally ask for your assistance, and get you to please complete the attached questionaire. Please feel free to complete as much as you feel comfortable with, just to reiterate this was originally produced for any company in the tree surgery/arboricultural industry. So the introduction of the AA was needed. Thanks for your assistance. Jaime. Arb AC scheme Q's and A's task.docx
  14. P.P.S I know that the student riots were fueled by other forms of demonstrators, the sort that do not pay for train tickets, lol. Shall we change this to the "opinions on the actions of others" thread
  15. Coward comment was not aimed you, was aimed at the people who wouldnt get involved; in what ever form, and just sit /stand and watch a situation demise
  16. All good banter, enjoyed that chat, ultimately, antagonistic responses aside, in the country we live in now, the manner in which they went about it may land them in trouble. Lessons will be learnt, and no doubt heads will roll. i just hope that the compensation culture does not get fueled. Ovaltine and jack d for me, nite john boy!!!
  17. Its the law of the streets bruv, dya get me brav.. Force.. Hmmm Do you think that the gentlemans fellow students thought that when they took on the police in the student riots. For the record old chap not had a fight since was twelve, promised my mum that i wouldnt fight again when i went to secondary school. A coward dies a thousand times, Line from a film. Ive diffused many violent situations, but deep down you wish you would have dealt with at their level. To be fair, if the old boy had had a heart attack from the aggresive situation he found himself in, would that constitute being put in A & E through being sworn at.
  18. "I certainly think that my children witnessing violence is worse than swear words" And then how would you feel if that were your grandad on the train working, and he got no support from the public, i know you dont support the chav, but ultimately he tried it on, and this is the result. His actions infuriated someone so much so that a bigger boy dealt with him, its character building, i bet he pays for his tiptops now.
  19. If that was you felix with your children would you have found that had your children been listening to such vulgarity, and socially unacceptable behaviour, you may have intervened. I know whats coming
  20. Id have got involved in a different manner, id have said excuse me, young man of the educational system, could you kindly stop using such vulgar language in the presence of these fine people, if you continue to do so, ill remove you from this peaceful social situation myself, now the gentleman has asked you; with the authority he has been given ,to kindly leave the train, are you going to do that for the gentleman, or not. At which point id have used him as a fire hammer and launched him through the window. where upon hacksaw jim duggan would jump down and do a double team on him from top rope.
  21. Depends where the second wrong occured, was it at the point of him delicately touching the youth, or was it when the inspector; a man of integrity, and long serving to this fine countrys transport system, gave the bully boy the order to assist in the return of peice to this sleepy village. if the later then he was right as there is no such thing as three wrongs dont make a right, thats been proven in court, lol. dont ask me to recite the case, its slipped my mind!!!! its on memory stick
  22. Thats essex girls for you
  23. Jack daniels im afraid, hav'nt eaten dinner and therefore the consumption of a single shot of the bourbon, accompanied with a brand of cola has caused me to type with less care and attention than i would have liked to. god knows what would happen if you asked me to leave the forum as a result of my illiterate capabilities. If i scratch my face on my computer in the process, ill see you in court my friend.hehe
  24. Depends where you were brought up i suppose, or how you were brought up, this is not a slating of your upbringing, but if that was my son and he came home, id lose the plot if he tried to even justify himself, this is based on the assumption that the 2 single tickets he bought; one of which was going the other way, is true. He was being nothing more than down right disrespectful of the surroundings he found himself in, drunk or sober, he should apologise for his disrespect, and shake the hand of the two men who in turn admit that they should have handled it slightly differently, however the resonse to his actions and his attitude were so frustrating and stereo typical of todays picture and portrayal of youth that the two men dealt with the situation to get it resolved for the benefit of the paying public, for which i read he was not one of. lol. My son will not behave like that, and if he does at that age, ill see him in court for gbh against his old man
  25. He got removed correctly, it just got filmed, therein lies the problem im afraid. its a shame there wasnt four of the lads, and they all turned on the chap, and he anihalated them all, then he could do the life in jail the big horrible bully, for mutiple over powering of a social situation, and eating to much, tut tut, at least in jail he'l lose weight and not be a drain on the nhs in years to come.
