  1. charlie - thanks big time for your electric o level help! - the lads hate electrics, usually tonys dad is called in for electric problems - rohan said if you wanted to come down and have a day to try and sort it finally he'd see you right! (in sticks) they have popped out but johntys at the yard, and they will be back lunchtimeish. thanks joy:thumbup1:
  2. if youve worked out your costs and added on what profit you wanted, its up to you.
  3. most customers send in a wagon on a return load to their area usually a 7.5 tonner + size vehicle that holds about 10 pallets/bags it keeps haualage price down that way thats all , ofcourse we can supply smaller quantities and sort transport for people but in wholesale its all about cheapness. if you ordered through the quieter periods you could get substantial discounts and good rates for logs, but we can get £80 a cube now so thats s what its worth a the moment - if you wanted a price for unseasoned no problem
  4. our wholesalers customers are usuallly vat registered (coalmen, garages, firewood merchants/farmers), and so they claim back and recharge at 5% - bearing in mind we are still in the busy period if wholesale customers wanted the deals, we offer substantial discounts come may -july when we fulfil our wholesale demands we retail at £80 plus 5% VAT, but some of our local friends who buy off us to resell, still make a profit at our charge of £80 a cube, they resell at half a cube £65 plus 5% VAT, if you came to me and said i am going to burn it myself who am i to know different and so would therefore have to charge 5%
  5. we have seasoned softwood log nets available wholesale , if thats help - 50 nets per pallet, we could supply you with 10+ pallets for £1.50 a net plus VAT - or could supply m3 vented bags for £60 plus VAT if any help - min collection of 10 bags we have wholesale hardwood but its semi seasoned for the wholesale market, coming out at about 32%, mostly ash m3 bags at £80plus VAT min 10 bags, or in nets £2.30 /net plus VAT all prices collected from our yard just 2 minutes off A50 Uttoxeter, loading facilties and tea made on arrival cheers joy
  6. just refurbed our nokka bed processor with new bearings and put back together and it wont work ! very head scratching as the oil temp light is on, but oil temp is fine, i think this may be the problem, but cant seem to override this to enable the other functions to move in order, as it will operate the chainsaw but wont operate the grab but then can get the rollers to move but wont operate the measuring of stem thinking it must be in the control box as all solenoids seem to work when operated with pushing by hand with a small screwdriver any help much appreciated as it needs to go on a contract on monday help! any help please reply or ring Rohan and Tony direct on 07970 040755 if all else fails will need a cheap harvestor!
  7. we charge £50 for all planning application issues, after all typing up, site reports and photos to take/print all take time etc. if the job is of a certain price we through that in for free if we get the work
  8. nfu wanted £2k for both discos, one old tdi and one disco 4, both work policies, we queried they would drop £40!, so swopped and got both for under £1k. i know things have gone up but both vehicles last year only came to £800 fully comp. and on business policies, both lads clean licences etc. id shop around, as ive always been nfu, but they are getting dear.
  9. good tractors, parts are cheap and easy to get hold of
  10. nfu have gone mad with their quotes this year, i know alot who havent renewed this year with them, try swintons or moneysupermarket.com both weve had good deals with
  11. if it was a landrover the steering pump would be leaking:001_tt2: as would the sunroof, the windows ,the door seal:lol: will ask mr. - firewoodman, as our mates got one , and mr. may know something to look at. joy
  12. we run different tractors for agric and forestry contracting, it can be done by one tractor but if your talking 3pl winches easy to change over, things like boughton winches bolt straight to back end and you have to take the linkages off and thats probably a good day for 2 guys to take on/refit linkages etc. also is your deere a sg2 cab? as not alot of room and alot of glass that can break. if your just skidding out with your 3pl and trees against the base plate of the winch, as long as your stumps are cut low and not alot of debris to catch the pipes underneath you should be ok, but bear in mind also weight distribution, forestry tractors like valtra/valmets engines are built around the front axle for weight , countys are also very weighty and your john deere might be too good to use? just my opinon, from hearing the guys tell me what we fit on our vehicles - so may be wrong - joy (the lads are out fixing stuff as i type!)
  13. duly completed, with yes wood fuel, yes yes yes
  14. yes, shes from a good working obedience background and Mr. likes the idea of tracking trials and obedience work, i like the idea of protection training for obvious reasons, shes got a good prey drive so hope shes got it in her.
  15. wanting to training our GSD at the moment and looking at schutzhund as the way to go? anybody have any ideas to this form of training and how have you got on with it, finding conflicting ways of training at the moment for GSD's for working dogs.

  19. will post some more pics with grab etc on and refurb pump etc, being towed by our fastrac 185/65, it holds 12t legal, length not sure will ask the lads as they shortened it for the new draw bar etc joy
  20. winching some trees off a riverbank side and up to the top from below where the photos are taken from ,its a bank off side of a reservoir i believe joy
  21. i worked under it myself and didnt ask tony to stand under it - if we lived by the rule book mate running repairs in the forestry/farming game would never happen rohan plus the lads have got more than their fair share of common sense joy has the hse man seen your stick making set up
  22. some pics of tonys dads hard work, hes a master mechanic at most things and with his friend has made a ferguson triple d, if doe ever made one then it would have looked like this also , how my boys play with tractors - hence theyre not having quads and fastrac this winter winching at severn trent joy
  23. great tractors , we had a 956xl - bulletproof engines, fantastic - G & R Pyketts have got a 1056 in at the moment, but the pic of the one on oversize tyres looks neat. we would love to buy another , tempted by one at pyketts, if you go and see it see George or Richard - always good guys to deal with weve bought alot of equipment off them over the years
