  1. I think that the powers that be don't want biomass or sustainable fuel. As soon as fracking starts oil will still be cheap as Russia and the middle east try to keep market share.
  2. I know what your going through we have found the best therapy is mans best friend get a dog. It gives you a friend to be with talk to and dogs don't judge. You are never alone with a dog by your side and even stroking a dog has been found to be therapeutic Joy
  3. That's it Jon. got digger men coming in to forestry now.
  4. They can afford to Jon. We have to fell and then only get our money selling it as final product of logs. Market swamped with cheap im ports and cheap logs having to compete with cheap oil and gas prices. Where do we all go from here?
  5. I was thinking this game would have 15 years left in it but not sure now. Softwood cord price still high due to biomass but hardwood hasn't dropped yet costs still up?
  6. Friend rang me today with a happy new year and asked how sales were .. I said not very good and he wasn't surprised as a neighbour had a load of oil delivered for 30p a litre. No wonder it's not shifting. This is the 2nd year when cord price are high yet the market is full of cheap firewood ..how can merchants keep going..A friend of mine who installed a kiln hasn't sold much and in fact he is letting us dry our kindling in it just to keep his rhi payments coming in. Comments? Joy

  16. On big saws we use stilhl and everyday use huskies the top handle huskies is way better than the still. Joy
  17. Stilhl make the best large saws 660 or for using all day long a 441 with the largest bar. But if like others say you need to do 100 t a year go the cone splitter route and hire in a big machine once a year to split it all then easier to cut up.
  18. anything dry, had some rain wet pine, been sat in the yard a while, decided not to sell it to customers as it looked a bit poor, so stacked it in the log store, within a week it was dry, it was only wet on the outside, burnt like rocket fuel. lovely, just looked horrible.!
  19. busy as normal on wholesale, very quiet on domestic log sales, had a local coal man order 1,000 nets of softwood wanted them asap so we did this and delivered to him within the week. Seasoned softwood light as a feather, we will probably get some people again thinking we are selling balsa wood!
  20. Would you not deliver in the packaging and let the customer undo?
  21. PM sent we are in the Midlands. Cheers
