  1. Years ago had a 110 with transfer box from 90 so would do 60mph flat out great for towing 3.5 tonne. Did a round trip on motorway of 200 miles foot to the floor when I got back had a speeding ticket 3 points and a photo of generator. Been through 50 mph road works
  2. So if cord costs £20 a tonne delivered in someone is making a lot of money because its now £60 a tonne and someone has normally picked all the processor sized stuff out.
  3. You get some right strange people on here. I have never felled a tree in my life I service and install big generators been on here 4 years for all I know I irritate the hell out of everyone
  4. And no gas or electric so get some logs and candles
  5. Thanks for posting those links I feel new toy maybe this week. I have a few loads of this pop too small for the mizer and some of it a bit spongy. I was thinking of pressure washing it but the neighbours think I am mad already.
  6. Hi Alec I see what you mean about the spud good idea especially if it keeps the bands sharp longer. I have been messing around with different samples of pop and found older larger butts grown in forest have less knots and are more willing to let the bark go in some cases it just falls off. I think the bark falls of larch ok as well. Apart from the bark problem other species like douglas, western red cedar etc I think would be just as good. Steve
  7. Agreed but when you go out for a drink the small weedy ones with the big mouths wind their necks in when they see the size of you I think that may be a problem with all forums as their is a lack of human interaction.
  8. I am not even going to look steve there is only one forum for me
  9. whoops no offence to helmets
  10. I thought this thread was to warn the helmets
  11. Spot on you know you are set for the winter and they will be dry. Gives you a sort of warm feeling just looking at it
  12. Which members will benefit if we are snowed in for 3 months. The time to stock up on logs is July even if they do look untidy in ones garden.
  13. Thanks for taking the time to write that I know how long it takes to put a post like that together. I think I have a good understanding of what your thinking. I think I understand enough about the mechanics of the machine to stay safe and not damage anything. Just need to make it efficent. What is a spud ?. I will get a few butts on this week and give it a try.
  14. Would appreciate some advice from some seasoned millers. Used our wood miser LT15 for about an hour and give up. I need to plank up poplar to put through our automatic up cut saw then through the kindlet. I give up due to the waste and time taken about a year ago . I am thinking of going for larger buts say 15-20" and using the slab wood as well. We tend to make neat kindling with no bark content but pop the bark drops off when seasoned. My upcut saw takes about 250mm x 70mm max but in 4m lengths is that too heavy to be efficent to lift about. How would you go about carving up the butt considering accuracy does not matter and what size would you make the planks.
  15. I looked at the L200 and did not like the 3500 mile servicing in those days the horrible gear change, the low gearing and crap gear change poor 1973 feeling seats etc. But in hindsite I should have left the Navara alone as well that drives better but falls to bits and blows up as well.
  16. Chap who works for me occassionally bought a 53 plate, one owner mint condition 30,000 miles engine let go taking out the clutch, flywheel and gearbox luckily bought from main dealer work done under warranty never sounded right after that got rid.
  17. Yes but only in a triggers broom sort of way
  18. 3 cube per tonne you must be selling balsa do you include your labour in the 50% profit or do you make 50% after you have paid staff or your self
  19. I was thinking I saw them at a show 3 years ago for 54k vehicles loose about 50% of their value in 3 years so why 54k still 25k more like it
  20. You dont need air bags in a defender with that nice soft dash although it could do with being moved about 6ft further forward. I think you could debate all night but you either love them or get a hilux I think its a marmite thing
  21. had a company ring and ask what I did for distribution. I asked of what urine and did not say p**s so kept the moral high ground it threw him so much destroyed his pitch
  22. They want something they can build with robots that costs nothing sells for 40k and appeals to the mass market on the school run the chinese and the indians and lets face it they own it dont they. They also make the TaTa pickup and you can drive that with the windows shut. RIP defender
