  1. much cheaper tyres on the tt85 as they only have to go to 2600kg cross plies I think nice and cheap at replacement time luckily as I need 4. Just replaced the wheels and tyres on the tt105 cost about £300
  2. Customers should think of it as training and hire. Your knowledge for the day will save them alot of wasted time.
  3. The 10x5 ifor tipper is the best towing trailer I have used. U just dont know its there. Tows well behind our hilux mk 4 I dont use our 16ft ifor as it just takes too much load and its too easy to squeeze 3 tonne on without even heaping.
  4. I have nothing against Landrover and have a disco van for work but have an Amazon for family use. You need to own one to see where the money goes and experience the reliability. Its no good picking up miss information off the net or listening to a mouth down the pub. If you have a busy business family and a few quid in your pocket get a Landcruiser. If you are skint have plenty of time on your hands and like meccano get a defender.
  5. Competant skilled experienced trusted aquaitences yes. Beginners, inexperienced animal types no. Just learning to use my LT15 and would say 1st couple of hours hard on machine especially blades. Not done it yet but would say its easy to cut the tops of some metal etc.
  6. My wife thinks that 3 " on top of what I already got would be far too much. If we compare I think you will find yours is a third longer than mine and the turning circle aint great ea to their own your a Landrover man so your not going to like a Toyota anyway.
  7. If they have the wood for free in the garden or from arb arisings and he does 6 cu metres in a day thats £26 a metre. Why would they not pay that. Supply and demand less people want to break their back cutting logs than climbing trees
  8. Burns fairly fast but good heat. Local saw mill used to supply a big bundle about 8ft long by 4 ft for £5 but in recent years with bio mass I expect that has rocketed as well. If they want more than £30 for a cut bag may as well go for hardwood.
  9. I think there is a big difference between being a yes man and I Quote someones post " we sat like sharks waiting for a post " You will always have difference of opinion but thats different to trolling through looking for a fight. There again I could be for the chop in the morning
  10. Dont drink and post. If you have ever stood at a bar alnight you will know blokes come in sober talking cobblers and it goes down hill from there.
  11. I cant think of one vehicle I like the Americans make. Too big too thirsty and badly made.
  12. That Landcruiser pick up should be £25,000 new and probably is in Oz compared with their earnings. 25k and the steering wheels on the wrong side. I bet they would be poplar over here in rh drive for 25-30k. The lc is not bomb proof and its expensive to repair but it gets used for jobs that would kill a defender in a week.
  13. £1600 for 1 mirror. Have you felt the weight of the door mirror on a lc100 series. If you went mirror jousting on country lanes I think you would win hands down. No need to give way to RR now
  14. My tipper body is exactly 2 cu metres. We use 1.5 cubic metre strip vent bags. One of them nearly fills the truck. Verdict they stretch especially after a few uses.
  15. Or 1% cause 100 % of the problems
  16. I would think dropping chip a bit like delivering logs 5 miles ok 15 miles takes half the morning especially if they are out in the sticks and have not spoken to someone for three weeks. What do people do with chip once its sat in their yard ? why does it have to be profit neutral or is that just for the person dropping it off. If someone dropped their waste in my yard without paying I would expect to get money for it.
  17. Perhaps there could be a room called " general bitching " then those that want to take rise out of each other can keep it there. New members possibly see banter between old muckers on here think its the norm and it spreads through out.
  18. If you know someone reliable with an 8 wheeler I would take some douglas fir for making kindling if we can make the figures work.
  19. I may have this wrong but have a vision of a pulley sticking out the back of a tractor with a 6 in wide belt on like you see on a steam engine ? . Is a modern pto shaft able to take this sideways force or am I wrong end of stick.
  20. For a badly knackered chain get it on a bench grinder stones last years and its quick.
  21. Three or one 4ft chain, labour is expensive files are cheap and it gets dark quick now.
  22. Easy if you are looking for a work truck hilux. If you need a luxury reliable family 4x4 then last of the 100 series Amazons. If you want to listen to your heart rr sport all day long. Better looking miles more up to date and better to drive. The down side one of the most unreliable vehicles on the road that cost the earth to repair if you get a bad one.
  23. Very true they just want cheap. Come December when all the wood has gone you could sell them bits of old kitchen cupboard.
  24. I think most of the guys on here see it completely from the customers point of view its a huge amount of money for a drop of wood on the drive. From the log mans point of view there is only a very poor wage with big bills always around the corner. The trick to getting quality logs is keep it all local and dont shop round for the cheapest price and find someone you can trust you may find the quality drops in the winter but an honest person will tell you.
