  1. Are u sure its not the immobiliser playing up
  2. I agree with all the above but if the battery is def good and the terminals are clean I am still putting my money on Starter Motor
  3. Probably the contacts in the starter motor common fault go about every 80-100k you can buy the set for less than £10. Starter motor is a pig to remove so I rebuilt the start solinoid on the car. If it cranks over well but does not start I seem to remember the only sensor that stops it starting is the crank shaft sensor.
  4. Health and safety is supposed to focus you on common sense methods to improve your working enviroment. Often its not actually H&S that is the problem its the way its interpreted and implemented by management with some organisations. Often its used to create problems and well paid positions that are not actually needed.
  5. Woke at 1 am this morning remembering someone asked me if I wanted 6 service agreements. The email was 3 weeks ago before I went on holiday and never got on the list. The reply was done at 1 am and asleep by 1.10
  6. MPG seems less important than reliability but maybe that is because diesels now have a habit of going bang and costing 5k to put back together.
  7. who is liable if they look for something to trip over. Also I found people collecting normally were looking for a large discount and had plenty of time available to wear you down. If you are going to retail I think you need to do it properly or leave it alone and just do deliveries.
  8. I had the police one over 10 years ago they even offered an improved service if you went for it Another to look out for is do you have any unrecovered bad debts. They ask you for one they can look into to prove how good they are. They then ring back and say yes they can recover the debt thats £200 for looking into it.
  9. I think alot of the 3.5 tonne iveco stuff is same running gear as the bigger stuff. Just down rated without being too heavy you get a more robust truck and still a reasonable payload.
  10. Spud would be the best man to give an answer. Sounds to me like the carb was set up before the saw was run in and needed retuning as the saw loosened up especially as it was cutting so well sounds like it was running lean.
  11. The only time I get stressed is if I have too much work on and have underpriced one of them. I used to struggle to get to sleep trying to remember the thing I had forgotten. I now use a free to download package called chaos. You list out all your todo's in priority and empty your mind at different times you remember things and add them . You can do same thing with bit of paper but i find it easier to update on the screen and print. Anything I cant remember now is unimportant so dont need to worry.
  12. I have just taken a new iphone 4s for 2 years with 1 g data a month unlimited calls and texts. £25 I could of gone simm only but for the extra money I get a new phone although dated.
  13. If you can find a factory in ireland making boards they often have a metre off cut after making new boards.
  14. Last time I checked ( 2 years ago ) any timber treated with chemical preservative cannot then be burnt on a domestic fire. Tanalith is the most common. Some treatments are now a light yellow colour and hard to spot most are a green colour. This timber can be used in furnaces that are certified to get above 600 deg c
  15. Arb arisings are when you go to site and take away the whole beech tree in handleable bits and give the tree surgeon a good drink. Arb waste is when you buy a pile of wood on ebay from a yard after someone has done all the doable bits and left the hedge hogs that broke their 13 tonne splitter
  16. Been there done that got the t shirt. Just need to find the figures I wrote down. Problem with boards that dont make the grade is they are often full of knots so not easy to make neat kindling. And they make a £1 a foot and it takes at least 3 ft to make a bag.
  17. I got my husky pole trimmer out after 6 months it had aspen in started first pull. I know aspen is expensive but when you work out the cost of the petrol you throw away after a month and the labour and material costs of the diaphrams it starts to look cheap.
  18. so reaching the allowed 24390kg GTW needs some thought and the tractor has to weigh at least 6 tonnes (and probably have 150hp) And I think you need air brakes on tractor and trailer although I am not sure if you need it legally its a good idea with 24 tonnes.
  19. I think big J is about 61/2 feet tall he would need to buy a defender double cab and sit in the back like myself
  20. I used to enjoy the work but now get my wood fix from producing kindling. For every £100 charged we seem to be left with £20 for wages. Considering the labour and time involved 10k did not seem like much for a 50k turnover.
  21. We were paying for cord and selling in a wealthy area where the cost of logs is on the floor. 150 tonne or 500 tonne u still need a processor and a tractor. 6 tonnes and old chainsaw and a vertical splitter I purchased 10 years ago straight into profit. We peaked at 450 tonne and can remember thinking that was the hardest 20k I ever earned. I dont regret giving it up its a hard way to earn a living respect to those still giving it a go.
  22. 6 cu metres this year. More profit this year than when I did 150
  23. I never used to go for a blow out. I used to enjoy a couple of cans of 3% dutch lager hollandia. Then Asda stopped it. So 2-3 cans of strong bow a night may be 5 at the weekend. Not had a hang over for at least 15 years but went from enjoying it to needing it. I functioned ok but you dont realise even a couple of pints a night zaps your energy levels. It helped me get to sleep but it was not quality sleep I was often yawning during the day. Now it may take ten minutes to nod off but sleep like a baby and no 3am toilet visit. I am planning to have the odd pint when out and have no problem with drinking especially if you have it under control but it can just creep up on you. If you struggle to have a couple of nights off you could be on the way to a problem. The quicker you sort it the easier it is.
  24. Can of coke and a mars bar cups of tea dont drink water.
