  1. Try a good service first. Look especially at the fuel sediment bowl behind the rear wheel. The fuel lift pumps are poor quality but only cost about £30 try bleeding the fuel filter with priming lever should be a good strong flow. If you find performance dropping on long hills look at fuel system. Performance is normally ok unless you have an auto.

  3. Hi James

I dont have transport to deliver. The trailer shown is a customers. There is 460 bags on it. If you would like to collect we would be glad to load you. £1.25 a bag + vat cash on collection.

    Regards Steve

  4. Been very busy althrough summer at £145 for 2 cu . Now £160 . Charge what you like in december. It takes one person in your area to raise their price and the rest will follow but it takes a brave man if you rely on the money. Some years I have been too expensive and business was slow in sep oct nov but always sold out by february. There is a huge demand for firewood dont sell your self short.
  5. I weighed a bag yesterday and it was exactly 4kg. So I would say they weigh 3.5-4 kg .
  6. Good set up. I have same trailer when busy as a back up. we have a plank around the top with divider takes it up to 2 cu metres.
  7. We have a stihl mse 220. About £400 and worth the money. Delivers torque in a totally different way to petrol. A petrol will slip on the clutch if it gets stuck . The electric seems to have a lot of torque at slow chain speed which gives the feeling of more kick back. I would not say it is more dangerous than a petrol but needs as much repect. These high end electric saws are better than you would ever imagine and I would say as good as a ms390. I love the pick up and go side of things and no petrol cost or fumes. I use mine for preping wood for processor and ringing 12-14" stuff when trying to keep the noise down excellent piece of kit.
  8. Does anyone have a D850 3 cyl water cooled engine for sale
  9. Have large quantities of freshly packed kiln dried kindling 50x40cm monofilament bags very well filled Normally have 500 bags in stock but can produce 2000 with a weeks notice
  10. New toys, kit and vehicles look nice smell nice and feel nice. Looks good to the customer too.
  11. When loaded 35mph up the hills on dual carriage way. 60 down hill . The later turbo was quicker but rubbish engine needing rebuild every 60k. Tdi from 1992 much better and chassis should be in better nick.
  12. I think you may be better off with a good used 260 rather than a new 180. If that makes sense.
  13. I use an mse for some fairly serious logging due to noise problem. Can come with 20" bar but I have 16" brilliant bit of kit. Hoped it would be as good as our 260 but more like a 380 well made but pricey. Try Fr jones on the advert to the side for best price around. 24p an hr rather than £1.50 in petrol and no fumes so you can use it in doors.
  14. Ringed up to 10" I would be in heaven. We have a decent vertical splitter they would be a breeze. If you get any jobs this way give me a shout I would collect every thing you had within a 10 mile radius of Andover. Would need to be Beech ash, oak, sycamore or similar cant take willow, chestnut etc.
  15. You should be alright 415v ac not so bad but could still turn your hair curly I would put an earth spike on the bank and make sure genset is earthed to barge.
  16. I did a similar thing 4 years ago. Willow is really heavy when green and like balsa when dry. Most of what I cut and seasoned went on the fire in the field. Willow sucks up alot of water which is why its often found next to rivers. I would not bother bringing free willow home.
  17. Do they class a 7.5 as hgv. You could get 3.5tonne a time. If you found a local log man and he gave you £10 for every transit load he took away ? . I would be interested in something similar around here.
  18. advertise free delivery with 5 miles which gets stretched to 10 over this an extra £10 or £20. Free delivery is good if you are vat registered.
  19. I dont know why they bother most of this cable is not copper and therefore only worth a tenth of the price. Alot of underground cable is ally and worth about £300 a tonne when stripped. I hope edf sent this bloke a bill for the power he enjoyed. High voltage power normally only leaves a fatty mark and a pair of shoes on the floor.
  20. 3 for £10 only retail. waste of time trying to wholesale any thing less than this you will be better of doing tipped loads.
  21. A cubic metre of loose beech logs weighs 700kg roughly when green When seasoned 350kg . If the customer wants green it will be £80 for 700 kg if he wants it seasoned it will be £80 for 350kg or 1 cubic metre. If the customer has a moisture meter which he likes to wave around when your stood in 12" of snow or wants 6" logs or wants it all stacked in the far corner of the garden he can get it somewhere else Anybody selling logs works hard for their money we all take too much abuse, my best customers used to be in the game and realise how much work goes into it. Its time fair trade spread to the uk
  22. Have you tried glovers near Grately
  23. I use this dont know if its right but feels ok. 050108woodfuelenergycontent[2].pdf
  24. I think its a third more heat for twice the time. so more contolled burn from hardwood would be good for open fires, but softwood ok in stove
