  1. would need to be a very big inverter. If you find a good one I would be interested as I am looking for something 12v to keep the air tanks up on my log trailer if I use a tractor with out air.
  2. Exhaust gas recirculation sends some of the exhaust gas back into the inlet manifold. Improves slightly the emissions. Clogs your engine up and gives less mpg. Sits on exhaust manifold and pipes connect to inlet manifold. Often you can buy blanking plugs on ebay to get rid of it. Thats the short version
  3. The lads at all ifor dealers are well clued up what it means is they sold you a 2.6 tonne trailer for 3.5 tonne money. the 2600kg means max weight of trailer including load. And no it does not mean thats the load you can put on trailer. If you overload the 2.6 tonne head the suspension damper will not be able to cope and you will wear the head out prematurely possibly causing early failure.
  4. I saw a screw splitter on the end of a mini digger on here a few weeks ago.
  5. Glad my children werent in a car coming the other way. Towing3.5 tonne at 70 is pushing your luck if you loose a tyre. 100mph is suisidal the tyres are not rated at that speed and when one lets go it will be carnage. The insurance companies are trying to price young drivers off the road looking at this thread not before time.
  6. I dont think that exists and if it does will be expensive. i have a verticla splitter I would forklift it on or two blokes knock it down to one man size then put the stool back on. I find if you can work it on and off a trailer saves bending to the floor all day. I would split asap before it gets two dry.
  7. Go on ebay and search for lock box they use them on containers. It makes it alot harder to grind a lock off. With a quality lock it will be harder to get in and pick as well.
  8. I am cutting oak and ash get at least 3-4 tanks before i tickle the chain if the woods really clean can get 6 tanks. Cutting sycamore uses a third less fuel. No idea how much I use per meter But I must get 20-30 minutes from a tank on our 039 running .325 chain.
  9. Fill up a 14 cu metre grain trailer and store it till Sep and charge £100 a cu double your money no breaking your back. I have tried this before but it starts them wondering why and what have they done wrong. You may even find they continue selling to the public but wont supply you.
  10. They cant be making much because cord will be worth £60 a tonne plus vat soon. There is nearly 3/4 tonne of timber in a loose cubic metre before it dries out. They can make more money selling it as cord. Unless you get the wood free you need to charge nearer £100 a cube or your wasteing your time its simple maths. The owner has failed to do his maths and may be cutting his nose of to spite his face now or is putting out small builders bags.
  11. I have a theory that alot of people that sell logs are so busy cutting to sit down and do the maths. So that joe down the road is doing wood for £60 so they match it. They have only increased the price by £15 in five years yet the costs have doubled. They run out and so does joe in November. I have not sold any in November but sell it all in December for £80 a cube ( £95 next year ) . Now bearing in mind we sold loads in the summer I tend to have an extra holiday in october and November.
  12. This post started 2 years ago and people still cant get £80 a metre. If it costs £60 in materials and takes two hours to cut and deliver you cant do it for £80 can you. it makes no difference what people are prepared to pay if everyone charged £100 they would have no choice would they. For £80 you may as well stay in doors and break even rather than show a loss.
  13. i have 2 acres takes 35 minutes I would have thought £50 inc diesel. I have a £40,000 John deere come in for 2 hrs to flail the hedges cost £70.
  14. Take a small piece of wire with a spade terminal. On the starter you will find a terminal to connect to dab this on the pos large cable terminal. This would be safer especially if you are on your own and miles from home. Alot kinder to screw drivers and terminal threads
  15. The td5 likes to rev I would think last thing you need is an overdrive. Below 2000rpm very little power as others have said disco transfer box or bigger tyres.
  16. The starter is not partially engaged can you turn the engine with socket normally you can engage gear and rock veh but they are a bit big.
  17. Loose battery and terminal the rocking motion made the batteries move and popped the terminal off. if not start with the obvious and work forwards. Sometimes you get enough current to light the dash but not enough to crank clean terminals.
  18. 5895kg unless its just after breakfast then its 5897kg
  19. When ever they put a solid flywheel in the ford they judder. And you are told you have to live with it. The dual mass cuts down vibration which protects the gearbox bearings and stops alot of noise in the cab.
  20. Looks a bit like a brush or something from the hawker sydley stables.
  21. I put new bfg mt on mine 2 months ago in short supply then. £495 all in . Quiet and grip excellent on tarmac or thick mud and snow what more do you want from a tyre. The budget stuff has got very close to the price of a proper tyre so I would just go for it if you get really stuck let me know my tyre man will get some for you.
  22. We have a reliable td5 disco van someone had to get one
