  1. did a fair size ash takedown today which was freezing . . . but as long as your ground crew dont keep you waiting too long then i found i could stay warm enough. good base layers/thermals are a must. i think the slipperyness from the ice and snow is the main danger but you can use secondary anchors etc worst bit for me was frozen toes where the spikes seemed to be stopping the blood flowing. id say just go for it:001_tt2:
  2. yeah i had a go on the globe at a comp and it was really nice, kinda caught me by surprise though and i ended up missing some locks but that was definitely my fault and not the ropes! are they both hardwearing? (globe and patron) good point on the rescue though

    Boots

they always seem to wear through the front like that, soon as the rubber gets thinner it just seems to pop open. i wouldnt mind too much after two years though. my meindls seem to be lasting a lot better than protecters ever have.
  4. thanks for the reply mate, when you say stretchy is it noticeable when footlocking? i dont like too much bounce really. the globe is nice stuff but expensive yeah?
  5. hello, was just wondering if anyone has any experience of using this line. looking to use it mainly footlocking but also srt access. any good/bad points to consider? HB6P - Teufelberger Patron Tree Access Rope The low stretch Patron 11 treeACCESS is perfectly suited as an ascent rope and is certified to EN 1891A. As a result of its 32-strand braided sheath made of high-quality polyamide, this low stretch rope is ideal for both single-rope technique (SRT) and footlock ascents using rope clamps and friction hitches. 6. good to know that the kit can take a lot of abuse before failing. im glad i dont have that machine near me, i'd end up breaking everything just to see what happened!
  7. was it the pulley that broke first in the ropeguide set up then? liking the company name, straight to the point!
  8. looks like the same principle as the f8 revolver, just a bit more streamlined. seems a good way to work single line without really expensive mechanical stuff.

  12. ive got one, paid just a little bit less than you but it had a touch more miles on. (108k) i love it, it does everything i ask of it, ive put loads of miles on it in the short time ive had it and its given me no problems (touch wood!). its not a pure off road vehicle but it goes over nearly everything ive needed it to and its still comfy as a day to day vehicle. it sounds like a good deal youve got there too. geoff
  13. just made a donation. hope you recover as quick and well as possible
  14. maybe! i wont be trying that anytime soon
  15. no, it was a groundsaw and i think he hit a chainlink fence with the tip of the bar but must have not had a good grip on it. i didnt see it happen so i dont really know but it was a nice wound right on the back of the hand.
  16. not relevant to climbing but ive worked with someone who cut the back of their hand with a saw on the ground. not sure on the exact details but the injury could possibly have been stopped or not have been as bad if chainsaw gloves had been worn. that said, they are horrible to work in
  17. yeah no worries, he did really good. good luck on that apf climb. its good to get the first one done

  18. hope it all turns out good for you mate.
