  1. I have done street pollarding in london for 3 years. another year or so in another city. Its a friggin nightmare. There are idiots who totally ignore cones, signs, tape, you standing in front of them.......drivers will drive around you....cyclists refusing to stop.... Teachers trying to walk a class, crocodile fashion through your worksite. On the other hand those sites can and quite frequently are undermanned, undersigned. underpriced...and quite frankly UNDER PRESSURE. The pricing is a complete joke. TRy and push for more staff....or complain or question or god forbid DO THINGS RIGHT and you are seen as trouble by some. Alot of young kids looking for a break are thrown into those situations by bosses who know they want a leg up in the industry.(and are cheap!) I know this isnt every firm and every contract but these are common issues. Great trees to learn to climb in though.
  2. cyclist should have been stopped well before that point anyway.
  3. 2000 forestry workers killed or seriously injured in one year....jeeeez.

  5. and the boss gets the staff he deserves......as you say all should pull together. Sotimes however there cn be a viscious circle which at some point needs to be broken. I know i have seen that in a couple of past companies....."i'm not doing that cause they dont do that" Well if hes being like that we'll be like this" Communication is the key here. Dont leave things to fester and resentment build. As a boss be approachable and open to dialogue. As staff remember that kit costs money and look after it.......blah blah:001_smile:
